“Superb as usual”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Just got back from another fabulous meal in this restaurant. As usual the staff were brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Once again the food was superb. Highly recommended. Many thanks once again!

“Sunday buffet”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

I have not eaten off the normal menu, only the sunday buffet. There are plenty of these about, and this is as good as any other that I have been to. You are not going to get the best dishes (all you can eat for £11.95) but the selection is quite extensive on the starters, a bit more restricted on the mains. A nice touch is that there are a fair selection of salads available if you are not a huge fan of the hotter food.

Better still is the location - dining below a fresco in an old chapel was a new experience for me. Perhaps it is a statement - consumption is the new religion, so why not come worship here?

“Very disappointed, lazy staff and tasteless food”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

We visited Calcutta Brasserie for my 20th birthday with my parents and boyfriend on a saturday evening. I booked in the afternoon for 8.45pm. Once arriving we were told we booked too late and should have done earlier in the week so we would have to wait. We complained and were seated immediately. The menu was varied but not with typical indian food you would see in a takeaway. We had Banquet A for 2 to share which was fine, however two of the dishes were incredibly boring and too spicy that it ruined the whole taste-we chose dishes with no spice rating. The waiters were slow bringing drinks so we requested again and ended up being brought two of everything and then charged for it all! Of course the restaurant is in a lovely setting but the food just didn't live up to what we were expecting so will not be returning.

“AMAZING VENUE / BUILDING”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We went to the resturant just before xmas, they had a set menu which was optional and looked good value for money howeverwe all had differing tastes so we went for the normal menu. I had popcorn chicken for a started which i felt was a bit of a let down, although spicy it was just like chicken wings with a bit of salad. The main was a butter chicken and this was amazing and the best ive had in a long time as well as the cheese and garlic naan.
The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, they were happy to answer all the question s we asked. The location is beautiful and stunning although i feel something was lacking, maybe it was just the expanse of space. Something is required to make the area a little more intimate. I would recommend the place and i will return.
