Description: A McMullen house since 1995, the Old Beams was rebuilt after a fire in 2007. Enjoy Seriously Relaxed Dining in this hidden country gem at the heart of Shenley Lodge. With the remnants of the historical pub abutted to the newer oak framed barn, the ingeniously reconstructed Old Beams is a glorious triumph of gastronomy over adversity! Dine inside warmed by log fires in the vaulted oak barn or private dining rooms of the old pub or, weather permitting, alfresco in the garden or on the patio. We serve glorious food with daily changing specials, tasty world wines, craft ales and world beers, credible coffee all to be enjoyed in this idyllic retreat that’s your home from home – where the chefs do all the work for you and we do the washing up!

Lovely place with a good atmosphere, we only ordered from the lunch menu but the food was superb although a little expensive, still you get what you pay for

The Old Beams is my local and I absolutely love it there. I think the decor and atmosphere is really great - one of the best in MK. The food is always of a very high standard and the ales are always fresh. It is a classy pub where you can order a wine without feeling self conscious. I highly recommend this pub for your Sunday lunch - or anytime! It can get a bit busy on Friday/Saturday nights and there is often no where to sit! So keep that in mind. The beer garden is one of the best but also gets very crowded on the (rare) sunny day!

The decor is absolutely stunning, quite a romantic quaint charming feel. Its a shame the food really lets it down. They either need to lower their prices/ have a set menu or up their game on the quality and freshness of their food.

The staff made sure we always had a drink and we didn't have to wait too long between courses.

The Old Beams is a nice place in a pleasant neighbourhood although the food served in the restaurant it's self is very over priced especially for the fairly ungenerous portions. There was a big problem with our meals coming out at different times, even to the extent where someone's food was served a hefty 20 minutes after ours (just in time for when our deserts were served.)

Overall I did enjoy the meal although these problems really did disrupt our experience.

Unfortunately Since the Old beams as been modernised its lost its charm and appeal. It used to be a very quaint oldy world feeling as the name suggests No its just like any other pub with loud music and certainly doesn't attract the clientel it used to sadly
