We are regular visitors to Café Rouge and will probably continue to be so.
The food is usually spot on, the menus are refreshed on a regular basis and the service is friendly and efficient (apart from the recurring theme of waiting too long for the bill). However, the one area where significant improvement could be made is the wine list.
I appreciate that it’s all about supply and demand and they won’t want to be stocking a load of wines that no one is ordering. Nevertheless, the quality of the wine does not match the food and the range is too narrow and limited. We were particularly disappointed that dessert wine has now disappeared from the list altogether. A French style restaurant with no dessert wine is a bit like fish without chips. It won’t stop us eating there, but we may just skip the third course in future.
