It has been a few years since I last stayed at this hotel and in that time not a lot has changed.
The service and food is good, staff very helpful and polite but the decor has changed little.
The level of maintainance has dropped.
The ladies toilet in reception had a toilet which would not flush, although several people had obviously tried. My room was tired looking generally and in dire need of painting, especially around the door frames which were very chipped.
There was a constantly dripping tap in the wash basin and the bath taps were dull and had limescale attached. There was also a small amount of black mould like substance around one end of the bath.
There was also no iron in the room which was a pity.

We stayed here and had a meal for a family 18th birthday. The welcome was excellent from the young man on reception. Efficient and pleasant. Our room was very nice. Bar staff excellent and seating area. Our meal was good with an excellent choice for vegetarians. I will state that this is not always the case. The staff in the Brasserie were efficient, polite and helpful for the evening meal and the breakfast. All in all our Saturday night stay was very pleasant and we would stay here again when we are in the area.

The rooms are comfortable. Staff very friendly. Nice pool with spa and sauna. Did not have a health treatment but this was available. The food was very nice gourmet style. Breakfast was all you can eat buffet. Good value for money.

Stayed here for 3 nights after planning a trip to Lego land which is 20 min drive away from hotel so was a cheaper option but better value! I visit Basingstoke time to time and need to stay in Apollo due to its good location. I always leave the hotel with a mixed feelings.
From the positive side I would say that the hotel staff is friendly, there is enough space, nice lobby-bar, excellent breakfast.
Unfortunately there is a problem with overall cleanness`in this hotel. A quite often the bathroom seems unclean, usual to find some hair and small dust in the room which was just cleaned. Difficult to understand why the cleanness is not a priority for one business-class hotel.

I attended a wedding and reception at this venue. Although we live quite close, we decided to stay overnight as it was going to be a late night. We took advantage of a special rate and stayed in a family room (130) which gave us more space than the Executive Double. I saw the bridal suite which was a really good sized suite with lounge, bedroom and two bathrooms and perfect for the bride and her "support team" of hairdressers, bridesmaids etc.

A leisure club with swimming pool and spa, free wifi, numerous plug socket in the guest rooms were also appreciated. Our room had a separate bath and shower cubicle with a power shower.

The wedding was held in the hotel in one of their large function rooms as was the wedding breakfast and the evening party. Each time the room needed to be reconfigured to suit the event.

The catering was good quality and extra portions were offered as required. The staff were pleasant and attentive during the entire event. As the bride said "All we had to do was turn up as the team at the hotel had everything else under control".

Room Tip: If there are two of you and you like a bit more space, go for a family room rather than the standard...
