Description: The Sun Inn, situated in Dummer, South of Basingstoke, awarded 2 AA Rosette and Michelin Guide BIB Gourmand 2017 continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Head Chef Gordon Stott. Still only 25, Gordon is one of the youngest chefs in the country to run his own pub after taking over as Landlord and Head Chef in February 2012, where he is ably supported by a similarly young but experienced team. All produce is locally sourced, and food cooked fresh on the premises to order.Drinkers are catered for with a wide variety of high-quality ales, many of which are supplied by the local Triple fff Brewery.

“Premium Fish and Chips”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

Don't eat breakfast, don't eat lunch, then come to the Sun Inn and try and finish the massive Fish and Chips serving which is one of the best in the UK. Always our favourite.

“My new favourite!”
Reviewed March 26, 2014 via mobile

Stopped off here on way home from Gatwick after A flight and so glad we did! Friendly service, Lovely ambience and the food was incredible! The squash ravioli was mouth watering! Tried it here as had heard from a friend it was good. Otherwise would never have thought to try it as from te outside looks very standard. Will Definately be returning and recommending and on this particular day it was the perfect end to our holiday!
Thanks

“Great Food & Service”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

Visited for a mid week lunch and decided on the soup & sandwich for £6.50. Wonderful homemade soup with a well filled sandwich and small salad. Service was very good. Only let down would be the ladies toilet which is very dated and could do with a refurb but we will return. Located just off the M3.

“What a find”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

We stumbled upon this brilliant Inn and had an amazing meal. Two of us had the special chicken meal and one had roast beef the other the roast chicken all were of top quality. Dessert was mouthwatering. Will definitely call again when in the area. The young staff were both very friendly and always had a smile.

“Significant birthday treat”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Nine of us repaired to this comfortably appointed inn on the outskirts of Basingstoke. My grandson however, after wishing his grandmother a happy birthday departed for a party and so missed a very good meal which the remaining eight of us enjoyed. From a small but interesting menu, two of us had Crayfish cocktail, four the smoked chicken, my son had butternut squash and daughter in law the home made soup. Mains were one mixed grill,(which can be a less than interesting compromise but was enthused over by no. 2 son), two 28 day steaks, one medium and one rare which were well appreciated, three ducks, which included both breast and confit which were delicious and appreciated by the birthday girl and myself, one home made beef burger for my daughter and rack of ribs for our granddaughter. Good puddings ensued in the form of 2 panna cottas , 2 chocolate delice, 2 apple crumble and 1 ice cream. By this time we were suitably and amply full,so the home made special birthday sponge, after the regulation happy birthday, was returned to its box for consumption on the next day. Celebration drinks included Doombar (and being a first rate pub many good beers are available; alas not for me as being on Lent I had to be satisfied with a couple of Bex blues) cokes, lemonades and a bottle Pinot Grigio from Alfredini and two bottles of Les Galets Cotes du Rhone. Service was more measured and concerned than overly friendly, with music which suited the younger members of the party rather than the seniors. For an overall enjoyable restaurant experience with good ingredients cooked and presented well in generous portions we paid £30 plus per head plus drinks and before optional service, for our special party guest; well worth it.
