Description: The Sun Inn, situated in Dummer, South of Basingstoke, awarded 2 AA Rosette and Michelin Guide BIB Gourmand 2017 continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Head Chef Gordon Stott. Still only 25, Gordon is one of the youngest chefs in the country to run his own pub after taking over as Landlord and Head Chef in February 2012, where he is ably supported by a similarly young but experienced team. All produce is locally sourced, and food cooked fresh on the premises to order.Drinkers are catered for with a wide variety of high-quality ales, many of which are supplied by the local Triple fff Brewery.

This old Inn offers two private rooms which were perfect for us recently when we had a gathering of 50 family and friends. We didn;t intrude on the other guests and they didn't intrude on us. The Sun Inn provided us with an excellent finger buffet together with teas and coffees which were continuously replenished when necessary.
There was a lovely open fire. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Will return for the fish and chips!

Great food, very tasty and fresh. The staff are friendly and had good knowledge of the wines on offer. The pub itself is comfortable and cosy. I would most definitely come again and will recommend The Sun to my friends and family. Well done The Sun!

Really tasty and very yummy fish & chips, but the other meals ordered were equally as good! This time it was a family visit, last time just the two of us. Both times, the staff were friendly and helpful and we're definitely going back again! Great for either intimate dining or a larger group, and a really relaxed atmosphere. Go on, try it!! You know it makes sense!

Very helpful staff on booking, one of our party was celiac and we informed the receptionist on booking and asked what options were available. The options were quickly passed on via E mail, on our arrival for our meal, four weeks later the waitress had a special options menu ready for our celiac friend without our asking. On this visit we were a party of eight, the food was delived to all of us at the same time on every course and was freshly prepared and hot.
On each of our five visits the standard of attention and service has always been consistently high by all staff, dining areas are always clean and welcoming, empty glasses and plates are quickly removed from tables and best of all the food is very well presented, cooked to perfection and mouth wateringly tasty.
It is a little more expensive than some other restaurants but it is certainly well worth the visit for a special occasion that will be made extra special.
New Years Eve meal was presented to the same exacting standards with a free taxi home provided but one criticism was that the evening was a little flat with no entertainment except background music and we were back home by 10.30pm.
Maybe something for the management team to think about improving for 2013 New Years Eve as most people like to go out and stay to celebrate the arrival of a New Year.
