We fancied a beer and a burger for lunch and thought we would try the Queens Arms pub. It's not huge or fancy but serves a good range of beer. It also has a good selection on the menu including a range of homemade soups, baguettes, sandwiches and jacket potatoes for lunch? We both went for the homemade burger with cheese and bacon and chunky chips. The burger was homemade and juicy and tasty, one of the best burgers I've had. The chips were great too. We were the first to order and only had to wait 15 minutes for food. We would definitely return for lunch or a drink.

Our party made our way to the Queen's for a traditional dinner prior to participating in the monthly quiz.. The menu was the same as last year's but no less enjoyable for that. Starters of prawn cocktail and pate followed by three roast turkey, two roast beef and one salmon. All were served in a friendly and relaxed manner and goodly portions other than the salmon which was unaccountably small but the recipient not wishing to upset the flow of the meal declined to complain. Puddings were profiteroles, and home made raspberry sponge. As ever washed down with Doombar a lovely refreshing Golden sovereign guest ale and St Clements for the ladies and drivers. We also shared a bottle of the ever dependable Montepulciano d'Abruzzo a quality accompaniment at a reasonable £15.50. The total for a very enjoyable meal, service and great company came to £163.70 for the six of us and the evening was rounded off by our team sharing first place honours in the quiz and myself winning a bottle of of pinot grigio in the prize raffle.

Great welcome, new ales weekly which were gorgeous easy drink. The food was tasty and large portion, great value for money. A good place for lunch or dinner, also good for a drink with friends.

A shabby little pub which is ok for a quick pint if you want one when you get off the train but not somewhere you'd visit otherwise!
