I don't generally write on review sites however I felt compelled to do so after our visit here tonight. Arrived to be advised seating would be 30mins for table for 2, very busy restaurant decided to wait ordered mixed grill and chicken steak combo with potato skin starters- starters arrived within 5 minutes lovely tasty and hot - waited over 35 minutes for mains to arrive but again good was great - frozen chips always a minus but lovely none the less ordered a round of drinks which didn't arrive had to remind waitress to send over!!! ordered dessert it came recommended by waitreess Lumpy Bumpy was very nice too!! At the end of our meal we requested the bill again a 30 minute wait wasn't overly pressed with the attitude of the waitress seemed to be ignoring us deliberately really giddy expect this as at the start of our very long meal she was attending to front of house - such a shame Tavern your food is lovely a bit on the expensive side drinks a little pricey too £80 for a meal for 2 with drinks - but your staff are letting you down - customer care needs attending too quickly

We where taken here by some friends, not been for years and was very surprised a lovely lounge area, no more screaming kids running round, waiter service, food cooked when ordered, a really good night out, recommend this for a nice meal and a good atmosphere

Called in for lunch on the way home from Bolton, it was ages since we were last here. Had a lovely Greek salad , and the other half had the chicken salad special, followed by chocolate lumpy bumpy and white chocolate and raspberry roulade. All good and all the meals around us looked equally good. The staff were very attentive and kept things rolling along. I paid £38 including a tip @ 15% unlike the table next to us who left one pound!!!

We go to The Tavern quit a few times in a year because the food is good and most times it is quiet so you can enjoy your meal.
That said it is a bit on the pricey side for the standard of food served, and the drinks are even more expensive than you would expect to pay at a restaurant which is basically "Pub Grub".
That said we have never had any complaints about the place, and do go back again and again.
