“Staff need food hygiene training”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

I took my partner for a romantic dinner last Saturday evening, we did not book and were told we had a 40 minute wait, no problem as we could sit on a comfy seat and have a drink, we were called after 50 minutes and taken to our table which faced the serving area, the starter was excellent and the main course was also good, I was intending to order a sweet but by now I was watching the girl serving the sweet courses and every one she handled with no gloves, she cut the cakes with a knife or slice but plated it with her hands as if it was just a big joke to her, she touched her hair all the time and many occasion sucked her fingers, I just dread to think what training the staff have if this is in full view of customers, I saw her picking up a last bit of gateau type sweet and throw it on another plate with her hands put it on the counter for a customer, on another occassion she was serving ice cream and dropped it on the counter, she picked it up with a spoon and her hands before putting it back in the glass dish and laughing again sucking her fingers, she gave it to the waitress to take to a customer, it was a done deal I decided not to have a sweet. The next day I had a very bad stomach that lasted all day and night, I cant say what the reason was but can only guess that the hygiene out front may be the same out back. I wont be returning, shame as it could have been so different, also only two members of staff wore uniforms. Andrew

“Definitely not coming back”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

On arival told one hour wait.
After over an hour asked and told busy.
Eventually at table 1.5 hours after arival.
Ordered drink when placing food order but never arrived.
Menu poor choice.
Food okay but not special.
Many restaurants with better menus and service
Give this a wide birth

“Poor”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

5.30pm : told we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Waited at a table covered in crisps and empty glasses.

6.05pm: tanoy instructing us that our table for 7 now ready.

6.15pm: food ordered. Specifically told waitress we wanted the one starter and the two kids meals to come at the same time as the adult main meals.

6.25pm: children's meals arrive with the one starter.

6.40pm: children finish meal.

7.05pm: enquired where the main courses were and were told that they would be on their way to our table very soon.

7.15pm: 1hour after ordering, our meals arrive.

Was it worth the wait ? No. Below average food in a venue resembling and sounding like a bingo hall.

We won't return.

There were twelve of us and the food was bloody grand for the price, the staff were brilliant and the pub itself very cosy, a great night out for the family.....

“Pub grub at restaurant prices”
Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

Dont get me wrong I love eating here it's consistently good my only problem is the expense of it, it is essentially pub grub at inflated prices - very tasty pub grub though!
They haven't changed the menu in a while which is a slight downside but it doesn't stop me visiting regularly
