“Not the best”
Reviewed July 20, 2014 via mobile

Firstly the price. Very very costly for a family of 4. The farm itself is well, a farm. The milking station stinks to high heaven. I nearly passed out with the smell. The indoor play area is filthy with badly placed inflatables. The outdoor play area we didn't bother with. The toilets were grubby with no toilet roll and obviously don't get monitored throughout the day. They did have hand sanitisers scattered about but not at the exit which I found bizarre. The animals seem cared for and for an extra pound or two you can buy a little bag of food. The little petting corner was the best thing about the place although I was wary the little chicks were going to fall from the high tanks as the front sliding doors were left open. Won't go again. The price alone was enough to seal that deal

“Lovely family day out”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Our first visit today was lovely. Our girls had a blast! Animals all looked very well looked after, staff were friendly and very helpful and all looked happy. Tractor ride could of been longer but was still fun. I love how the bouncey castles are included as normally places charge for a couple of mins! Will definately be going back! Thank you

“Lovely afternoon”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Although it looks a little ramshackle it adds to it's attraction and baring in mind it is a working farm. It was really nice the staff very pleasant and helpful and answered questions with ease. Demonstration of milking which was geared to the young schoolchildren that were there, very informative for them.

The petting area was amazing being able to feed baby goats/lambs was incredible, but be warned if you have a little one with you they might get a little scared when the hungry little ones charge in! The chicks and baby rabbits were adorable. The python again was incredible and the young lady who handled in answered any question with ease. Being close up and personal with an owl was awesome. The baby goats were funny they and could squeeze out of their pen.

Great play area for the little ones with plenty of bouncy castles, play tractors etc. Plenty of areas to sit with a picnic. The restaurant was reasonable.

Purchase animal food as it is fun to feed them.

Plenty of hand washing facilities and signs telling you to wash.

All in all it was a lovely afternoon with husband daughter and granddaughter.

“A great attraction, the kids loved it.”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

After travelling down a precarious pot holey road we reached the farm, the entrance fee was £20 for 2 adults and a child, our under 2 was free, we also paid for some animal feed and a donkey ride. Initially we thought that this was quite expensive for a farm, however, once we had finished our visit we realised that it was worth every penny, the children loved thoroughly the farm, where they got to see and feed lots of animals. If your children like animals then i would definitely recommend taking your children to Smithills Farm, and make sure you go to the pets corner talk where they can hold baby chicks and rabbits and bottle feed baby goats and lambs.

“Fantastic Farm Fun For Families”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

We have been to Smithhills on 2 occasions now!
Reasonably priced, purchase food for the kids to feed to the animals.
The petting area is amazing, you are allowed to pet and feed groups of animals, our little ones loved it.
The cafe is again reasonably priced and has really nice food, though weve also taken a picnik and used that area and again it was clean, staff friendly and eager to help.
The adventure playground is geared at older kids and there is sometimes an inflatable adventure course available for the younger ones also some mini tractors they can ride.

Donkey rides can be payed for at an extra cost, my young one loved it sadly my older son [10] was unhappy at not being able to do something for his age range, though thats probably the only negative we had.

The second time we went was Easter bank holiday weekend - if your going on a bank holiday please be aware that it will be MOBBED!!!
The staff dealt with the crowds really well, traveling along the line aiding those who could pay by card e.t.c
Though our kids didnt get to use the petting area, it was just far too busy...they did also have an Easter egg hunt for the kids but again it was just too busy to take part.

Excellent place to visit and spend a few hours with the family
