As regular walkers around Entwistle Res. it is difficult to believe we have never been to the Strawbury Duck, we come from the Darwen end, park at the other side and have never walked up ... Well, we met friends at "the duck side" last week. Great walk with the dogs, even better drink and food with the dog in the pub - great, doggies welcome !!!! For that alone you get 5 stars !!!
Food, drink, atmosphere, environment all 5 star too - a great experience.

Stayed in August and it certainly lived up to the hype. Great location, food second to none all sourced locally with excellent service and a breakfast fit for a king! Only complaint was mattress which was a bit soft for me but overall a fab experience and one I can not recommend enough! Thanks Strawberry Duck

We (3 couples) enjoyed an excellent lunch, drinks,on saturday 24th November;with an evening meal and an overnight stay.
The pub is quite isolated, but very popular with walkers.
The staff very friendly and helpful, the quality and choice of food excellent.
Also a good choice of beers, especially the Lancaster brewery bitter.
There was a long delay in serving our evening meals attributed to a misunderstanding in the kitchen.
However for our patience,we were rewarded with free starters and two bottles of wine.

The bedrooms were excellent, recently refubished;although I understand not all bathrooms have a shower.
Overall a pleasant time was had by all

Room Tip: Ask which rooms have showers,if you are not a 'bath person'

We visited this pub/restaurant on a Tuesday night.Tastefully decorated and excellent friendly service. One of the best meals out I have had in a long time. Good size portion and reasonably priced too.

For some reason had to rate room to submit this review. We did not stay in room but would definitely consider staying in the future. New years eve looks good too. Hog roast fireworks Irish folk music and marquee. Tempted.

Great hotel , lovely food ,friendly staff , short walk to train into Manchester , only I small problem our room was not serviced the 3 nights we were there, great location for walking . It is a bit out of the way to find if you don't have a sat nav , a very narrow lane to it ,but well worth the trip .

We already were aware of the Strawbury Duck at Entwistle having enjoyed the food previously this was however the first occasion to stay the weekend. It was delightful! seldom have we received such a genuine warm friendly welcome, our room was very clean with a welcome shower, a very comfortable bed and such a exceptional breakfast, freshly cooked local sourced food and a pot of tea to await the arrival of our food.
If originality good food freshly prepared, genuine friendly staff value for money are important we recommend the Strawbury Duck.
Thanks for a super weekend, we will return!

Room Tip: Contact the pub direct, you will be welcomed and treated as a human being, rare in plastic establism...

Excellent location with lovely surrounding countryside. Large variety on menu but all cooked well. Good value for money and nice house wine. Can recommend. Owner is friendly and attentive. Maybe the rustic toilets could do with updating but other than that a lovely restaurant.
