Must be a new chef and new menu. This was by far the best meal we've had in a long time.
The food was excellent. The slate deli ( an upmarket ploughmans lunch) was superb. The generous portion of blue Lancashire cheese was tasty and creamy. The roast beef thick and full of flavour. The smoked mackerel average. The mixed salad had unusual salad leaves, and not just the bog standard mix. The butter had been warmed just enough to spread with ease on the small roles, which I thought was a thoughtful touch.
Hubby had the home made chicken and ham pie. Well, you've never seen such a thick pie. Full of wholesome chicken and ham. The thick chips had a crispy coating to them. The vegetables where freshly cooked, full of colour and flavour.
Don't normally do , but this was such an exceptionally good meal that it deserves to be praised.
So well done The Wilton Arms. We'll definitely be returning.
