“Excellent food”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Must be a new chef and new menu. This was by far the best meal we've had in a long time.
The food was excellent. The slate deli ( an upmarket ploughmans lunch) was superb. The generous portion of blue Lancashire cheese was tasty and creamy. The roast beef thick and full of flavour. The smoked mackerel average. The mixed salad had unusual salad leaves, and not just the bog standard mix. The butter had been warmed just enough to spread with ease on the small roles, which I thought was a thoughtful touch.
Hubby had the home made chicken and ham pie. Well, you've never seen such a thick pie. Full of wholesome chicken and ham. The thick chips had a crispy coating to them. The vegetables where freshly cooked, full of colour and flavour.
Don't normally do , but this was such an exceptionally good meal that it deserves to be praised.
So well done The Wilton Arms. We'll definitely be returning.

“Super pub grub”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Looking for a late lunch or early diner we headed to Wilton Arms just outside the village of Belmont.
We both had the "Wimbledon special"- a glass of delicious cold procsecco followed by steak, chips and lastly strawberries and cream. At £15 a head great value.
The restaurant was quiet but it was 4 o'clock and service was attentive but not OTT.
My only criticism was that the strawberries were served on a saucer, on a slate and the stalks were left on making it tricky to eat them. Either take the stalks off or serve with a dipping cream so guests can eat with their fingers.
Would recommend a visit- and the patio had delightful views!

“Reasonable pub grub at a reasonable price”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Wilton Arms can be a bit hit or miss on the food, but is generally reliable. Unfortunately on our latest trip my husband's fish and chips left a lot to be desired - obviously cooked in fat that was too hot, leaving the chunky chips very brown but undercooked. The fish batter was very dark, too, though he had no complaints about the fish itself. By contrast my spicy seafood linguine was very tasty, although it looked and tasted as if the tomato sauce had been made with tinned tomatoes. Don't expect too much with the food. The pub, however, has a good selection of wines and real ale, and the views over the moors are fantastic.

“Love to lunch at the Wilton Arms”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

I arranged for a party of 19 guests who had just attended my late Father's funeral to have lunch on Friday afternoon. The surroundings are beautiful and the furnishings very tasteful and comfortable. Everyone was very impressed and happy with the menu choices available. The food was beautifully served, well-cooked and good value. We are planning to return soon under happier circumstances to sample something else from the extensive menu.
