“Superb value well cooked”
Reviewed October 22, 2011

Indian food. Trip Advisor got me back here after 15 years absence. The reviews are right. This chef knows his cuisine. The menu has some interesting unusual dishes. The Chana and the other specialities are exceptional. Portions generous. Starters simple but well cooked. Value is unbeatable.
The decor and furnishings are basic. The service had some eccentricities. The young waiter took a shine to my wife and appeared to be chatting her up by asking her name and insisting on kissing her when we left! Joining in the spirit of it all I gave him a kiss as we left.
Anyway this oddness made our evening even more enjoyable as it added to a very unique experience. We will return for the food and try and avoid the amorous advances of the staff!

“No frills excellence”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

As a regular client of the 'Raj' for ten years or more I would like to comment on the consistent quality of both the service and the food. This must be the best Indian Restaurant for food in Bolton and at good value prices. What the premises lack in terms of salubriosty are more than made up for with the food and service

“fantastic value for money”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

Probally the best Indian restaurant in Bolton. Food is consistantly excellent and the service is spot on from the friendly and attentive waiters. The surroundings could be better and definantly cleaner but its a refreshing change from the glass palace Indians that seem to be taking over Bolton.
One for the true curry lover!

“Excellent food - got to be one of the best curries for miles around”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

I was a regular visitor here in the mid 90's when it first opened, and was always more than satisfied, but for some reason it fell off my curry 'radar' - and that can only be described as my loss.

After a 12 year break i revisited here last night and wad not disappointed, and still had the same staff!!

First dont be put off by the outside or the location. I know town centre curry houses have never had the best reputation, and from St Georges road, this doesnt look much but this is one on its own. Its a small resaturant clean and tidy, and a pretty good menu with alll the usual favourites and a few specials.

The food is what you come for - and its way up there in quality, taste and presentation. I had the chicken puree - which is always a good indication of whats about to come, and i have to say its one of the best starters i have had in years. Mains, meat is tender and well cooked and food very well flavoured and value for money is off the scale - its much cheaper than any oyher curry house for miles around and for food that is of far superior quality. My other half had the shashlick, which was excellent also, tender, and cooked to perfection

In the previous years when we used to go, we always used to describe it as the cheapest best curry you would have for miles around in surroundingds that arnt fine dinnig but are more than adeqaute - happy to say its not changed and if anything improved

“Basic setting but exccellent food”
Reviewed November 25, 2010

This is a very basic, no frills Indian restaurant. Most of the staff have been there for years and the service is generally good. The menu is fairly diverse and the food is always well prepared. Prices are low and you always get great value for money.
