“A very lovely evening”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

I had a lovely evening at San Marino last Friday. The food was delicious, the restaurant has recently been refurbished and they have done a great job. The bar area with the log burner is really cosy. The staff were really friendly and attentive, I could not fault. I would highly recommend a visit.

“Nothing to write home about”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

This place was something pretty special when it opened - it was a bit on the pricey side but the food was really nice. Now it's still on the pricey side and the food is nice but nothing special. There's nothing on the menu that you can't get in any other restaurant of this type (Italian for an English audience) and it's all pretty ... nice! You know when you've been to a restaurant and you want to go back the next night, and the next? Well, this isn't one of those - it's...nice! Looking at some of the other reviews - it hasn't had a complete makeover, as one says; it's in the middle of having a bit of a paint job. Someone says that the manager is horrible; no he isn't - he is attentive and enthusiastic; a perfectly nice guy. The rest of the staff are really pleasant too. The food was good - had the ribs to start, which were tasty AND hot (something Leo's can't manage); the main course, which was a prawn pasta, needed a bit of oomph, so I asked for chilli oil; good job they managed to fool me into thinking that a bit of chopped chilli in oil would do the trick! I would rather a 'sorry, sir, we don't have any' than being taken for an idiot. Anyway, I have spent long enough on this - give it a go, if you like; it's ... nice.

“Fantastic evening”
Reviewed January 14, 2014 via mobile

Restaurant completely refurbished and very busy. It looks amazing and we had a fantastic night. All the staff were really helpful. I had chicken livers to start that were lovely followed by King prawn tagliatelle my friend had meatballs which she said were delicious followed by a lovely fillet steak. Always liked it here certainly the last couple of years but its even better now. Very welcoming atmosphere, excellent service and food (new menu) and really good value for money . We made a night of it as the atmosphere was so great and good background music. Would def recommend to anyone to go and see for themselves. Outstanding night.

“Horrible manager”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

San Marino is always one of my family's choice for a nice night out , however today out visit was quiet unpleasant , this gentleman mid twenties which seems to be the manager never smiled during the whole experience at San Marino to be honest , we felt he didn't really wanted to have us there , the restaurant was quiet there were only 3/4 tables in , we all felt that he wanted us out as soon as possible not even a couple mins after sitting down asking if we were ready to order , then asking twice more we ordered , our mains were already in the food light when the waitress was cleaning our starters , our 3 course meal took less than a hour an half , we were in and out , staff stayed behind the counter playing on their phones really unprofessional.

However , as usual the food was lovely.

“First Saturday in January”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Booked a table for 8.00pm on 04/01/14 as could not be bothered to cook a meal at home as we only got home from a two week holiday late on Friday.

The first thing that surprised us was just how busy the restaurant was for the first Saturday in January after the holidays, second was the fact that the restaurant has been fully refurbished to a very high standard.

The atmosphere was electric the staff were very helpful as usual and the food was cooked as requested and well presented. We were not rushed at anytime during the evening.

It was not just going out for a meal but an evening out as well
