“Comfortable and Convienient.”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We booked late as weather forecast sounded ominous and we wanted to make our flight. We had stayed here before. The £10 parking charge was not highlighted on initial booking but we were upgraded to a Club room which was very comfortable and clean with a well appointed bathroom with separate bath and shower. Bed was so comfortable we almost overslept!
Would stay again .

We stayed at this hotel for our Christmas break this year. Check in was very smooth and we were given our room within minutes.

There were 9 of us in our party in 5 double rooms, once we arrived in our rooms we naturally decided to turn on the heating as it was quite chilli (being late-December), however the heating system blew cold air out into the rooms, we rang reception who informed us that someone would be up to the room, we were given a portable electric heater which frankly wasn't upto the job, and was told that there was a fault on one side of the hotel on our floor, he informed us that due to the bad weather the hotel was at full capacity as many flights were cancelled at Gatwick and we were told we may even have to downgrade if we were unhappy with our room.

We later noticed that he fridge/cooler was not working and again rang reception, they informed us that the cooler was only designed to be slightly above room temperature and so it was working fine, however we tested a cooler in another room which was in fact a lot colder than room temperature, they came up and offered us another room, the cooler was working fine in this room, however the heating system was not. We decided to go down to reception as we were very unhappy with the service, we spoke to the manager on duty who upgraded our room to a larger suite which was working perfectly - we did not have the best start to our Christmas and felt this time could have been spent better, maybe in the pool/gym area (as it closed at 7pm)!

The breakfast was lovely and there was a wide range of options provided, both full english and continental.

The Christmas lunch was not worth the £59 each we paid, we expected something a lot more gourmet for this price but was presented with a more 'school dinner' style main, although the starter and dessert was lovely! The meal came with 1 glass of bubbly, but we thought a soft drink should also have been provided, especially to those under 18 years old.

We spent most of Boxing Day in the pool area, and had a great time, we ended up staying a lot longer than intended, it was lovely and warm, very clean and a had great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and informative and attentive.

We dined in the hotel restaurant on Boxing day evening and felt the prices were much too expensive for what we got, in particular one of our party ordered the chef's special - Salmon which was tiny, and nowhere near enough for a an adults portion.

All in all it was nice to have a break and we really enjoyed our time in the pool/steam room area.

Room Tip: Check room once you arrive to ensure everything is working - you don't want to have to unpack th...

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments following your stay ata the Crowne Plaza London Gatwick Airport Hotel.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the leisure facilities and pool whilst staying at the hotel .

I was disappointed to read that you had experienced some issues with the heating in your room unfortunately we have had a few issues with the heating over the Christmas period due to the adverse weather conditions and infact felt very lucky that we had not had more problems with power or flooding as so many properties in sussex have .

I do apologise that it took us sometime to find a satisfactory solution for you .

We have been working on restoring all the services you mentioned in your feedback.Your comments are important to us when trying to improve the service we offer to our guests .

I do hope that you will choose to stay with us again in the future.

Reception is great and very welcoming. However, the rest of the ground floor seems to be very gloomy, they could do with some better lighting! Pool, sauna and steam room is great, but again the gloomy lighting made you not want to stay in there for long. Bedroom was spacious, but the bathroom could do with updating. Not that close to Gatwick, thought that it was nearer. Overall for the price (which included parking at APH) it was a good deal.

I am pleased to read that you found a good parking package although not right on Gatwick sometimes this is a good thing as you have more choices if you wish to visit the Town and we are also very close to all major routes to London and Brighton.

I am pleased you were able to take advantage of our Leisure facilities .I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Well, we moved after our nightmare of a stay at the Europa Gatwick Hotel to here and, boy, were we glad we did.

We were first greeted by the lovely staff who offered us an upgrade to the Club Room. We were hesitant; so, without hesitation, the lovely woman at the desk waved for the Concierge to come and show us a standard room and a Club Room to visually see the difference. The standard room looked absolutely amazing and we couldn't imagine how the Club Room would be. When we were shown the Club Room, we knew we'd spend the little extra money to upgrade: it was completely worth it.

The room was luxuriously huge with a massive television - and even a television in the bathroom area. We had everything we needed plus so many more nice complimentary treats. Having the Club Room also meant access to the Lounge with a free full English breakfasts, alcoholic evening beverages, and other snacks.

My partner and I were pleasantly astounded in every way.

It's only been an hour since check in but we already feel at home, lounging in the room robes. We are about to go take a dip in the pool now!

Room Tip: Upgrade to the Club Room.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and feedback about your stay at the Crowne Plaza London Gatwick Airport Hotel.

I am delighted you enjoyed a relaxing stay in one of our Club Rooms and managed to use the leisure facilities on offer .

The Club Rooms are so nice and although there is a supplement to book one, I feel that with the added extras and Club Lounge access represent such good value, with a Continental style breakfast included.

I do hope that if you are travelling in the UK in future we will be able to welcome you back again to the Crowne Plaza London Gatwick hotel.

Kind Regards

Hotel manager was extremely helpful and accommodating when we needed to amend our booking due to the weather.

Staff were very friendly and pleasant but I was very disappointed with the room which was small and worn, generally a bit tired throughout. Then when we lifted the cushions on the bed they were ripped, torn and badly stained!

The duty manager kindly arranged for us to be upgraded to a much better room as a result; the Club Room was much larger, more modern and with a lovely bathroom (great separate shower). The cushions and throw were stained in this room too, however, so it may be a hotel-wide issue.

The difference in the standard of accommodation between the initial room and the alternative is significant so I would definitely recommend upgrading if you can.

Room Tip: Book a Club Room, not standard.

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at the Crowne Plaza London Gatwick Airport hotel.

I do apologise to you that you encountered a problem with the soft furnishings in your room.
I was on duty and I am pleased I was able to upgrade your stay to one of the Club Rooms.

Thank you for bringing the problem to our attention I am afraid that the fabric used on these cushions is delicate and although looks very nice maybe not be practical in a commercial enviroment.

I have passed on your feedback and I am sure that your observations will be taken onboard.
I do hope that you will choose to stay with us again in the future.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy the scrambled eggs I will pass on your feedback to our chef.
I know that the kitchen will always prepare boiled or Poached eggs for our guests on request and they always have fried eggs as well as the scrambled eggs available on the buffet.

We stayed in this hotel the night before our flight, and purchased it as part of a car park included package.

The hotel itself was very clean, with spacious rooms, TV, wifi and room service. The bedroom was modern and fittings were attractive. There was a large bar downstairs with a good selection of wine and bar snacks. And there was also a fitness suite.

Parking was overnight at the hotel and then you had to drive to the car park which was 5-10 minutes away. There was a bus at the drop off point that took you direct to the airport. The whole process was smooth and easy.

We did not have breakfast.
