“Really nice stay, very friendly.”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We stayed here for a "mini break" whilst visiting Ironbridge, the place is delightful. We were greeted with an offer of coffee and cake, (home made and gorgeous), and spent a very relaxing evening first in the comfortable lounge, and then in our very spacious room.
Breakfast was a classic "B and B" treat, I chose the trad "English" and my wife's vegatarianism was creatively catered for!
Before we left we had a stroll around the lovely garden and visited the neighbouring church - not a beauty, but interesting nevertheless.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!

We are four couples who booked the Old Rectory for a pre Christmas weekend get together. Just before our stay one couple had to cancel do to illness and this was dealt with extremely supportively by Rosemary and Adrian. Thank you so much. Our welcome was excellent, we were shown to our beautiful rooms before gathering in the lounge to have a delicious home made afternoon tea around a lovely log fire. Dinner was first class with a choice of menu (a lovely surprise as we weren't expecting this). We spent the evening relaxing in the lounge before retiring to our welcoming rooms.

Plentiful, well cooked breakfasts which included a fine array of cereals and fruit etc. Tea was served on our return from site seeing in the afternoon. Dinner was again excellent. We stayed in the dining room that evening playing cards which Adrian and Rosemary readily accommodated. Thanks again for the mince pie recipe Rosemary, I made 48 and they were a hit with all my visitors over Christmas. I'm about to make another batch as one friend keeps mentioning how nice they were. Will we be back? - you bet, both as a group and individually.

Having been forced into making a late booking somewhere close to the International Centre at Telford, I was lucky enough to drop on The Old Rectory of St James with a room available.

Now for those who have not read other reviews of mine, I should point out that I usually stay at 4* & 5* hotels with all of the refinements etc that that is meant to represent, and B&B has never been something I would consider..... how wrong have I been! From the initial welcome, through the home comforts provided (just about everything foodwise is home-made - and top notch at that - or is locally sourced) and the facilities provided - if you threw in a pool and spa this could easily justify a 5* hotel ranking.

Rosemary and Adrian manage to make you feel like an old and valued friend and nothing is too much trouble. My room was comfortable and well equiped with stacks of fresh towels and toiletries on offer in the bathroom with its wetroom type shower, and everywhere is spotlessly clean.

I could even break the habit of a lifetime and consider taking Mrs Mancunium for a short break to the Ironbridge area just for another chance to stay at this little gem.

Room Tip: I think the reviews probably say it all - there are only 5 rooms at the Old Rectory, and I doubt any...

We stayed at the Old Rectory with four other couples whilst attending a convention at the International Centre. Everything was perfect down to the smallest detail! Rosemary and Adrian looked after us all so well- it can't have been easy with us all wanting to eat at the same time but they were so accommodating. My only regret is that we were so busy that we didn't get enough time to enjoy the surroundings, but that's OK - it's a great excuse to go back! We had a great weekend and such lovely accommodation was the icing on the cake! Thank you!

A year since we stayed at this fabulous Bed & Breakfast - we returned for our second visit. Rosemary and Adrian welcomed all 3 of us (that's including our dog Lucy), like we were part of the family. Even their dogs Heston and Blossom were pleased to see us all again.
We stayed for 2 nights this time, and our 2 friends who were with us last year also came.
What can we say - except that it was just as fantastic as we remembered it to be.
The cakes with our afternoon tea were to die for. Rosemary is such a wonderful cook.
We had an evening meal both nights, and both were beautifully cooked and presented - better than a lot of restaurants. Afterwards we sat chatting in front of the log fire, which felt very homely.
And as for the breakfasts, with Rosemary's home made bread and jams just got you going for the day.
Rosemary and Adrian are the most Friendliest, Caring, and Professional Hosts that you can imagine, and nothing is too much trouble for them.

We have recently returned from a 3 night break in this wonderful Bed and Breakfast, our only regret being we wished we had been able to stay longer! Travelling with friends, one of which has mobility problems we found the Fosbrooke room on the ground floor met all her needs. Rosemary and Adrian are such friendly, caring hosts who really go out of there way to be helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean, beds really comfortable and breakfast excellent, next time we will definitely have to sample one of Rosemary's evening meals, as I am sure we will not be disappointed. Thank you so much for making us all feel so welcome and completely spoiling us! Marlene, Roger, Irene and Denys.

I normally do not write a review after visiting a place, but I had to write one for this Lodge, a contrat to an earlier experience from another hotel, the day before!! Its a home away from home, but with the touch of care.

Absolutely beautiful!!! The grounds, the food, the Host and Hostess, Adrian and Rosemary were lovely!. For tea we had freshly bakes scones, with cream and jam, Lovely chocolate cake..all freshly made. Dinner was also lovely, peas grown locally and picked and Made. The scented freh roses and home made cookies, were just awesome

The room was something out of Downton Abbey!! I felt like royalty. I have recommended the lodge to a few people already and hope I can go back for a restful retreat soon!!

Well done to you both!!!
