“Restaurant Service could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

Had a 1 night stay at this hotel the facilities are great and I used the Gym which had the usual amount of cardio and weight training machines. The room was good with a large bed. When I went to the restaurant and bar I managed to get a drink fairly quickly, After requesting a menu which I was given straight away you would have then thought I was invisible and after at least 10 mins of trying to attract the attention of the waitress or the bar person(despite the bar being empty) I had to go up to bar/restaurant entrance to disturb the staff conversation to ask if I could make an order. The food was average but edible. However in the morning I have to say the breakfast was made to order and was perfectly cooked. So all in all the stay could have been a little better.

I recently attended a Charity evening and can honestly say the service and the food was very poor - we arrived at 1920 for a Champagne reception but they had run out of Champagne! we went through to dinner at 2000 and where served with our starter at 2055 which was all cheap food and poorly presented - everyone was so hungry they had eaten the rolls so we asked for more. The main course was disgusting and very small it consisted of - 2 soggy roast potatoes, 4 spouts, 2 small strips of carrot, an inch long sausage, small ball of stuffing and the thinnest piece of turkey I have ever seen! gravy was salty - not nice! I actually could not eat the pudding after one small taste! it was slimy and congealed - I would not go back under any circumstances the room was dark and you could not see the food - good job really

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comments, I am sorry you were disappointed with some of the aspects of your function.
We had been requested by the organizers to provide a welcome drink for all attending which we did however I think some guests may have chose to have more than one, the lighting in the room was set low, this was because of the beautiful table decoration and its enhancement, the timing of the function was outside of our control since we only do as we are requested by our client lastly I am sorry if you felt the standard of food was not to our usual high standards.
Once again thank you for taking the time and commenting.
Kind Regards

I visited for two nights with my husband and our two young children as we were attending a family and friends Christmas party. The room was large and comfy with a queen size bed, and two pull out single beds for the children, the pool was warm and the children loved it, we had a lovely light lunch in the day but it was pricey, recommend popping out for lunch as there's some cheaper pubs not far away, our evening meal at the party was very nice, it would be nice if the hotel put a small park/play area somewhere for the children as there's not much for them to do, but apart from that it's a lovely hotel.

I visited at the weekend for a birthday treat, i wanted somewhere with a bit of class and we were prepared to pay that little extra, so my bf upgraded us to a Q star room, and i was also looking forward to the spa.
Our room was very beautiful and had nice views, no problem there, but when we booked it said we would have 'lots of lovely toiletries, a drinks package and a complimentary tray with lots of goodies' sadly this was not really true. There was a tiny bottle of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel ( and i mean tiny) and one little bath salts. for 2 people, not impressed and that is not LOTS. The tea tray was the usual nothing special. 2 biscuits, coffee, tea, it was a better range than you might get in a standard room, but still nothing more than that (not even a hot choc :( ) The i realised the drinks package was no where to be seen, we found a little card that said 'treat yourself, the fridge is full of lovely goodies and for a second i thought i had done them a huge disservice, but it was just 2 bottles of water, a diet coke, a beer and a small bottle of wine, again why they use the words 'lots' and 'full of' i don't know, it just sets you up to be disappointed, just say what it is and be honest! The fridge was also not on, so all the drinks were warm, i went to reception and asked for cold drinks to be provided and that i was disappointed with the toiletries, so more were brought to us.
I then went to the spa and it was really nice, but no jacuzzi which would really help, i couldnt have a treatment because they were fully booked, even though they sent me an email 2 days before to recommend i call to book one, then when i did call i was told no availability. (Again they really don't do themselves any favours).
We went for dinner in the evening, the meal was fantastic i couldn't fault the food, The restaurant was nice and if it hadnt been for the noisy party of people seated right next to us (not really the hotels fault) it would have been perfect.
Breakfast again left a bad impression, no buffet service because they didnt have enough bookings, but we could order hot food, Ordered a full English and we were given very little of everything, items were missing and we had to ask for more sausages (only one given)! scrimping yet again.
Overall i loved the room, the hotel is beautiful and clean and the staff always willing to oblige, but i had to constantly ask for more of this, or for this to be sorted and to be given what we had been promised which has completely put me off going back, instead of relaxing we were just always getting annoyed and frustrated with the things that were missing.
I have given the hotel 3 because despite a beautiful location, hotel, room, restaurant, when you pay for a luxury stay thats what you ought to get, to be given all those little extras you expect from a 4 star hotel at a 4 star price, not to have to constantly ask for things, so sad if they sort these things out, it really would be wonderful!

Room Tip: Recommend the Q star room, but dont expect quite the extras they promise.

Wanted to book a spa break for a girlie treat and trawled numerous websites looking for a nice location and a good deal. The deal included lunch, dinner and breakfast plus an hour long treatment. When we arrived the receptionist was very helpful and arranged for our room to be ready earlier than the 3pm check in (due to the number of bags we were carting around!) The room was nice - good size, comfortable and clean. We had our lunch which was really nice and then went to explore the facilities before going for our spa treatment at 3pm.

This was really lovely and feeling completely relaxed, we went back to our room for a while before going down to the bar for pre-dinner drinks. Dinner was very nice with a good choice.

The next morning, we had our breakfast (which was buffet style).

This was a really lovely treat and I have to say that the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back again!

Make sure that you buy one of this hotels cheap deals or you will be severely disappointed.

Even at the cheap prices the service is amateurish, the bar is woeful and full of noisy local golfers, the food could be bettered in a Weatherspoons and service in the restaurant is seen as constantly asking you if everyone is all right when being impossible to attract their attention to get you a glass of water while they are chatting with friends in a setting that would only just be okay in a Happy Eater.

The Spa and treatments are excellent and the manager should be asked to take over the whole hotel as it was the only place to be busy in the time we stayed.

Booked via spabreaks.com
Got a great deal on a lunch, 3 course dinner, bed and breakfast and spa day. Massage was excellent and sauna etc is great. One negative is that if you are going to get away from the kids, they allow them in the pool area so the relaxation bubble bursts and it is just like a public pool back home again. The food is 1st class and the staff friendly. Would certainly come back.
