“Quaint & Relaxing”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

We were given a voucher by our parents to get away and relax. The hotel was lovely, friendly staff and clean. The room was basic but adequate as a base, though decor was a little dated. The restaurant and bar was good and the service friendly. Variety of food was a little sparse and nothing really for those just wanting a lite-bite. Lovely grounds and our room overlooked the lake which was handy for wildlife watching.

Dear StoonBarmey,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We have a variety of room types ranging from our standard rooms, Garden & Lakeview rooms with private balconies, Four Poster bedrooms and a Penthouse Suite, the hotel was also completely refurbished recently in a traditional style.

I am delighted you found us to be friendly and enjoyed our Lakeside restaurant & Lander bar.

Regards,

We stayed for two nights last week having been given a voucher as a present. The hotel was busy hosting a wedding when we arrived and our hearts sank, as we have previously experienced this in other hotels and suffered poor service, being unable to get a drink at the bar and being kept awake by noisy discos and drunken guests at night. However, we were very pleasantly surprised as none of these things happened! The room was fab with a balcony and a lovely view, beautifully decorated with a very comfy bed and big fluffy towels (always a bonus!) It was also very quiet. The staff were all lovely, they could not have been nicer or more helpful. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and the dining room is beautiful with views over the gardens. We ate in on the first night and the food was very good-my only complaint is the pate (nicely presented in little kilner jars) had a thick layer of fat on the top and lumps of the same throughout which was a bit off putting. However our steaks were perfectly cooked and very tender. Breakfast was also good with lots of choice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we hope to come back again.

We have just returned from a two night break at this hotel courtesy of a present from my son and his wife with a 'buy a gift' voucher. We had a lovely stay and wondered why this hotel only has a rating of 3 stars when we both agreed it should be a 4 star. The staff are a great credit as they are all friendly and very efficient at their jobs.

The room was very clean and spotless with a comfy bed and even toiletries supplied in the bathroom, which was a nice touch, also lovely fluffy white towels on a warm towel rail. We had a meal in the restaurant one evening and couldn't fault it, it was hot and very tasty. On our second evening we went to The Huntsman in Little Wenlock and again the food was very good, Just a little tip if you decide to use this pub you need to book in advance as it gets booked up very quickly.

We had read a few negative reviews about this hotel but I think some people just love to moan, as in our opinion there was nothing to moan about.

All in all we would return to this hotel as it is very convenient for trips into Ironbridge and there are some lovely walks round and about.

Thank you for a perfect stay.

My Wife and I recieved a buyagift Voucher for a 2 night B&B in a choice of Hotels.
We looked at what was available in the list , and Buckatree Hall Stood out.
The location is Idea if you wish to visit Iron Bridge and all the attractions (as we did)

All the staff we spoke with were great , and even helped us before we arrived as due to the recent bad weather we were unsure if we should make the trip.

The room was a standard double with the usual tea / Coffee facilities. The Room and bath room were of a high standard of cleanliness as was the rest of the hotel. My only issue (and this is personal preferance) was the materess was a little bit on the hard side.

We ate in the hotel restaurant for an evening meal , again very friendly helpful staff and great food - infact could not fault the food , presentation or service. The breakfast in the morning was great with a good choice of cereals , breads and cooked items.

At the time there was a problem the lift on the ground floor , it opened then closed really quickly , then opened again. Reminded me of the Arkwrights Till in open all hours ! however it was in hand as notice was on the lift door to be aware of the issue. I did read a review on the hotel by another guest who seemed traumatised by this which made me laugh :)

After Checking out I did notice that we had been charged twice for beverages we charged to the room, however This is just as much my fault for not checking the invoice before I left. I contacted hotel and this was refunded with no hassel.

All in all I would definately recomend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the area , it was Family friendly as we saw a number of people with children. Would stay again.

Room Tip: maybe worth enquiring if all rooms have same style matteress if you do not like firm

Wow......booked on the internet , after looking for somewhere to take the family , for a few days in the school holidays. Buckatree Hall threw itself at me, and after a very short discussion with ithe trouble and strife, swiftly booked the hotel room.
As we drove down the country lane towards the Wrekin, a walkers paradise, the hotel came into view, and what a hotel it is.......with its marvellous setting, small lake, and very peaceful wooded areas, I knew we had chosen wisely.

On, checking in....we were greeted by a very friendly, smiling young lady, who took the time to ask if we, d had a good trip, before checking us in. Our room 62 was absolutely perfect, and ready before time, I hasten to add.,.. one double and two singles in the same room , nice separate bath/ shower room and lots of space, both for us and our clothes. After a nice cuppa tea, and an afternoon walk to the Wrekin, we booked our table for dinner, which was in our package, as was two mornings breakfasts, and heritage passports for Ironbridge museums, all ten of them !

Dinner was excellent , and fantastic staff everywhere you go in this hotel, top job I must say.

Breakfast both friday and saturday were amazing, cooked to perfection, and nothing too much trouble for the staff, who even supplied my kids with hot chocolate !

To summarise this hotel.........absolutely perfect , we, ll definitely be back, that is of course if they can prise us out, since i am writing this while we, re still here totally relaxed and really dont want to leave ! Thanks to all at Buckatree , for a perfect break, brilliant !,,

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the lake, ours overlooked gardens at front but all seem lovely

My wife and I recently had a two night break at this hotel and I have to say it is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at and it really was fantastic value. We arrived early and the friendly reception staff greeted us warmly and checked if our room was ready.... It was, and within 5 mins of arriving we were unpacking. The room was absolutely spotless as was the whole hotel to be honest. We decided to go down to the bar for afternoon tea, which was included in the deal, and the girl behind the bar was also very friendly and helpful. We had coffee and scones with jam and clotted cream and they were lovely. We then had a walk around the grounds of the hotel which are really nice.. the location of the hotel is also excellent if you are after a 'get away from it all' break. It's also in an great spot for local walks, especially The Wrekin. We decided to spend the rest of the afternoon in the bar area which is so warm and comfortable... really has a nice homely feel to it. We booked into the restaurant for our first night as this was also included in the overall cost of the break. The restaurant like the rest of the hotel was spotless and the service excellent. The food was amazing.. my wife had braised steak and I had the linguini, both were absolutely perfect as were the starters and the desserts.
After a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed we went down for breakfast and once again we were not disappointed.. great food, great choice. On our second day we did two local walks and on our return to the hotel we had a shower and relaxed in the bar before going out to The Huntsman in little Wenlock for tea. All in all I could not find a single fault with this hotel... it really is one of the best breaks we have had and we will definitely be going back again in the summer. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for Valentines weekend, what a great place it is, the staff were very helpful and polite, the rooms were clean and tidy, the food was great value for money, 4 course meal on Saturday night, £24.95, and 3 course meal with entertainment £14.95 Sunday lunch time.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony over looking the lake.
