Great hotel and location, have returned again this year and service so much better, food, room and location all great. Woods are just opposite if you have a dog to walk them in too. We stay in a balcony room on the ground floor. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and no noise issues at all could be heard from our room.
Great value break, but if you go DB&B they only give you £19 each towards food so not always cheaper.
If you want to eat in the restaurant early, book early as they do get busy.

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room in August.

Not sure what to expect as it was only a pit stop after our main holiday, but we were actually very impressed at how pretty the setting of the Hotel is.
We were given a triple room which overlooked the lake... truly heavenly to wake up each morning to the sound of water and to see the lake (albeit a mini lake) and the lilies and wildlife.

The hotel is quiet, clean, beds comfy & we found it to be value for money.

Would recommend & will come again if in that part of the country again.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the lake if you like that sort of thing.

Hotel is traditionally furnished in a rural location perfect base for exploring local attractions and a great base for walkers. Our room was fairly large with refurbished bathroom though we were hoping for a balcony room. The food was first class in the evening and a good typical buffet for breakfast. Staff were both knowledgable and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay would definitely return. Great value break

This hotel enjoys a truly glorious location tucked away in woodland at the foot of the Wrekin, yet only a few short miles from the (rather dull and uninspiring) centres of both Wellington and Telford. On this particular September afternoon, the gardens were resplendent in the warm sunshine as we drew up to attend our niece's wedding reception.

On her and new husband's arrival, the assembled guests were invited to a glass of Bucks Fizz or Orange Juice and thereafter were shown to the beautifully decorated, comfortable bar/lounge area where we all settled, drinks in hand whilst the photographer did her stuff in the gardens near the pond.

I'm not quite sure who advises on timings at such functions but, on this day someone got them very wrong, as we sat here for two hours before the call to dinner was issued. Too long for me and my adult companions but most certainly way too long for the younger guests, mostly toddlers, who by now were getting impatient.

During our wait, my two grandsons and I visited the toilets on three occasions and I never did find the Gents! The Ladies and Disabled toilets are together but no sign of the Gents or even any indication! My little chums, being desperate, had to use the Disabled toilet, which had a "dodgy" flush - it worked sometimes, but mostly not - and the cold water tap didn't work at all, but the hot water in the tap was scalding. Not good in a hotel of this standard for a member of staff tto have picked this up!

On the subject of staff - here they were mostly youngsters that day, probably between 18 and 30 years old. Although they were all very courteous and quite obviously doing their best, it was evident they had not been trained in the finer points of the hospitality business. For example, there was no attention to dress code with shirts hanging out, dirty shoes and trousers frayed where they had dragged on the ground. One lovely waitress also managed to deposit a splatter of melted butter from the serving of carrots right in the middle of a fellow guest's silk tie - she was attempting silver service with two small soup spoons! Someone should have picked up on this, surely.

It was however refreshing that the kiddies were served first (before the adults' starters arrived) otherwise we may have a mutiny! I have to say their chicken nuggets and chips were very good indeed, even homemade and complete with a good-size pot of ketchup too! Likewise the adults starters and mains were delicious, but best of all, they were hot. So often when catering for larger numbers, the food tends to get cold, but not here. Desserts were also very nice indeed and good coffee rounded the meal off nicely.

With a little attention to detail this hotel could be really good.

I stayed here as I had a business conference at Telford ICC. This was the only available hotel available I may add.
For £60 per night for a small double room seemed a bit pricey, as the hotel is very old fashioned and is in the middle of nowhere! There is nothing within walking distance.
The bar shut at about 11pm, and a JD and coke cost nearly £6 - expensive!
Breakfast was not included in the price, but I left early anyway.
Would maybe stay again if I was desperate.
Beautiful garden though!! :)

Room Tip: Some have no natural daylight and some are up tiny winding stairs....

I used this hotel as a base to explore the surrounding area of Telford, Bridgnorth, Shifnal, Ironbridge and Birmingham and stayed three nights. It is in a lovely rural location and I believe people use it as a base for walking around the Wrekin. I originally tried for more town centre hotels but they were all booked and having seen them (souless but functional) I am glad I chose this hotel. The room was clean and the staff polite and friendly. Food wise we decided to take breakfast in the hotel and I am glad we did. There was a lot of variety (full English, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc) and I didn't feel hurried and never had to wait for a table. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: This place is a maze, be sure to read the signs properly (I didn't) otherwise you will be wander...
