“A bit of family time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

Having stayed here last year and our girls loving it we decided to return this year and we were not disappointed. We have 2 girls age 6 and 8 and they love it here. Its great value and superbly placed, you get free entry into wonderland which they love. Telford park is superb, the kids eat free which is brill, there is a pool if you need one and the staff there were lovely to both us and our girls, we will see you again soon! thanks

Dear Sophia1712

Many thanks for your kind review and I am glad that you and your little family had such a nice time at our hotel. I'm glad you enjoyed visiting Wonderland, and its so easy to get to, along with Telford Town park, just outside the hotel's back gate - great for working off some energy!

Hope you will come back again soon,

Kind regards,

A warm welcome from the reception staff. We were in a ground floor room, which was one of the older style rooms. The bed was comfortable but the feather filled duvet and pillows were not to my liking, too prickly. The air conditioning was needed on a warm evening. Pool, spa, sauna and steam room were great again friendly, helpful, chatty staff. The bar prices were good, even stocked a favourite of mine Gaymers cider. Breakfast buffet was well stock with hot food, fruit, cereal, pastries etc. Good overall experience.

if you have stayed in a holiday inn you will know what you get, rooms are typical, there is a pool, a gym that closes earlier than you could wish but overall it is excellently placed and the staff are brilliant, especially Marion on the desk who always remembers us even if we don't return for 10 months!!

It was our first time in Telford as we were visiting Ironbridge, and our first time at an Holiday Inn, as we normally book small B+Bs. As we were stopping only one night I booked this hotel, and we were very impressed with service on arrival. We got a refurbished room, which was very nice, great telly and beds. I liked the new bathroom, but i'm not a big fan of the fancy sinks. We ate out at night at a local pub, had a good sleep, and the room was very clean. There was a big choice at the buffet breakfast and the staff were cheerful and helpful. We had free use of the spa facilities, but opted for dinner at the pub. I'd certainly stop here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room.

Stayed here recently with a group booking. We had a room on the top floor which was excellent. I cannot fault the housekeeping. Our room was cleaned daily and the lovely fluffy white towels replaced. The bed extremely comfortable and the choice of pillows a nice touch. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and all well cooked, especially my poached eggs which can cause problems in the best of places! All the staff we came across where helpful and pleasant. We did have problems with some of the evening meals though. I appreciate it is difficult to cater for a large group but when food is pre-ordered there is no excuse to run out. We were promised duck on our final night and when we went to collect our food we were told it was chicken-which was very nice-but there was not enough and again they ran out. The vegetables were generally OK but one dish maybe two were very much over-cooked and tasted unpleasant. Members of our group also had to sent their tea back more than once as it was very cold! Basic really!

Dear Lel1234

Thank you for taking time to post a review after your recent stay with us and for all the feedback, both positive and negative, and please be assured that it has been taken on board.

We did make a mistake with the duck on your last night which was most unfortunate. However, we had only asked guests to pre-order their starters and desserts, not the main course which was served on the carvery. The chicken dish had proved extremely popular. Nevertheless thank you for drawing these issues to our attention, which has enabled us to prepare and plan differently for the future.

This was my first occasion to stay at this budget hotel; I was there for a conference which is the cliental this hotel seems to cater for. I was there for 4 nights. The hotel has a gym and an indoor pool which is open from 0500. It is more than adequate for all your needs.

Location - 10 minutes from the train station by taxi. There is also a large shopping centre within walking distance from the hotel about 5 minutes across the car park and a number excellent supermarkets.

Rooms are well appointed, a good size but no fridge. Internet is provided at a cost but be sure and check what you get as the staff were none too knowledgeable on the packages. I was told a £2 package would last for 2 hours and when you logged off you retained the remainder until you logged on again, no so I am afraid, once the clock starts tickets it no stop! Bed was very comfortable.
Free breakfast was provided in the deal which again was not exotic but more than adequate, cereals, yogurt, bacon eggs sausage bread.
No free Internet is provided in the lobby which for a business hotel is just stupid. If these budget hotels wish to attract and retain business travelers this is the least they must do. I travel worldwide and this is the norm in today's work, free Internet in the lobby is expected.
All in all a good little hotel except and my stay was a pleasant one, would I stay there again. I will return there for business with in the year if I can find another hotel which provides free Internet, if only in the lobby I will chose that one. Internet is a must for business travelers; the holiday inn should know that and remedy the situation. I spoke to many other attendees who were of the same opinion.

Room Tip: I had a ground floor room which was handy.

Dear Paddy C

Thank you for taking time to post a very thorough review and I am pleased that you enjoyed a good stay which you felt was value for money.

Regarding our £2 internet voucher, this does indeed last for 2 hours and can be logged in and out for the duration as it counts down the minutes used. Depending on the device you were using, some have to be completely logged in each time you switch on or off. Please never hesitate to ask for assistance in future. Your observations regarding internet have been duly noted nevertheless and thank you for your views which are helpful to us.

I do hope you will come and stay with us again in the future.

Stayed at the Hotel between 10th.and 14th.June.
On the positive - the Reception and Dining Room Staff were welcoming, most helpful and professional - with a special "thanks" to Dee in the Restaurant for her kind attention and service. Also, the Kitchen Staff were efficient and helpful with our Dietary needs.
On the negative - the Housekeeping Team need close attention from the Hotel Management to ensure that they carry out their basic duties. It was necessary for us to report problems with our room (36) to the Reception on two out of three of our days that we were at the Hotel. On Tuesday we returned to find that the beds had not been made and the wet, soiled towel's had been removed from the floor of the shower and placed on the hook on the bathroom door. ...!!!! On Thursday we returned to find the rubbish had not been emptied from the bin - the "coffee/tea" items had only been partly replenished - and someone else's black sock appeared from under the bed.....!!!!!
Really, the lack of care regarding basic duties in the rooms is not acceptable to customers in this day and age. There are other competitors looking for the same customers - so Holiday Inn Telford - if you cannot guarantee clean and well serviced rooms then you will loose returning customers to your competitors- it's up to you. ..!!!???

Dear DennisKerrigan

Thank you for your constructive review and I would like to apologise for the shortfalls in housekeeping standards which you found on 2 separate occasions. Please be assured that this is not indicative of our usual high standards of cleanliness and I am very disappointed that this happened to you. The Head Housekeeper has carried out remedial training with her team to ensure that this does not happen again.

I am pleased that, on the other hand, you were delighted with the rest of your stay and your kind remarks have been passed on to everyone, including Dee who will be particularly pleased. I do trust that this did not mar your stay with us.

Kind regards, Lis Frost, Guest Relations Manager
