heard a few locals rave about the food, went along at 3pm one friday afternoon, a smattering of pleasant locals along with a warm welcome from the host, menu read very well with some choices id expect to find in a swanky pricey establishment, all food is freshly prepared as opposed to "freshly opened", and it was superb, had the stuffed chicken wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of roasted red peppers in potato bake with a tomato sauce that was to simply brilliant, im told the food is michelin standards due to the chef spending most of his training alongside michelin star chefs......but at slightly more than ordinary pub meal prices, the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" and we probably had the best food in the area for many years, finished off with a carry out loaf of rustic freshly baked bread from the basket on the bar in readiness for sandwiches the next day, lovely...............

We were given a very warm welcome from Vicky and staff on arrival. Our double en suite accommodation was a couple of yards from pub entrance which was very convenient. Lovely room and bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. We had dinner which was tasty roast chicken and the dessert (chef made) scrumptious.
Vicky, the landlady, was worth her weight in gold, mainly with her effervescent energy and her complete aim to satisfy your every need. Mustn't forget the lovely breakfast which made our short stay complete. Many thanks to Vicky and all her staff for making it a great last minute nights stay. See you again.

We stopped here on the way from Bath to London. Having looked at a few of the previous reviews, the world "excellent" appeared numerous times (dare I say, almost suspiciously so). However, the food really was excellent. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress/barmaid who was spot-on with her food recommendations. The slow-cooked beef was outstanding (make sure you have some chips as well).

Stopped here on the way to Swindon on Friday night. the pub was quite empty which was a bit off-putting. The food was OK but nothing to write home about. It was expensive for average pub grub. We won't be returning anytime soon. There are better places to eat.

Really nice looking pub in a lovely village on the outskirts of Swindon.

This has a more formal restaurant for evenings but i much prefer the traditional old bar area with aged and worn fixtures.

The menu is great, probably too many items, but great to see a local pub making use of local produce and suppliers.

The food is at the top end of what you would want to pay for a casual lunch, but that said, the quality of the whole experience justifies the cost.

The service and welcome was excellent, you really can not find fault here.

I wold certainly recommend, will add it to my revisit list!
