A cold November night, kids staying with Gran & Grandad. The Moshan Island Grill was a warm welcome with sounds and spices of the carribean. We've been to a lot of great restaurants both at home and abroad including a number of Michelin star and celebrity places. Everyone at the Moshan Island Grill was super friendly and attentive we both had monkfish & prawn curry which was simple but delicious. The restaurant is a delight, the menu was not overly complicated (in my opinion a good thing as it typically shows that everything is cooked fresh and not bought in ready made). We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing evening. The upstairs lounge is a nice addition where you can enjoy a cocktail or a legendary Appleton rum to round off the evening. Thoroughly recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing, vibrant and informal evening with great food - oh and also for those wanting to escape from a cold winters evening in Swindon! Enjoy....

Recommended by a friend, we tried this restaurant as a change from the usual (albeit very good) Italian places we usually go to - we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, very tasty - one of the best rump steaks I've ever had (and with a rum sauce too!) - and reasonably priced. My wife's choice of main was not available but the chef recommended an alternative, which we were told we didn't have to pay for if she didn't like! Needless to say, it was delicious..... Very friendly people, attentive (without being overbearing) service and a chilled atmosphere meant a very pleasant evening. No hesitation in recommending, especially if you enjoy Caribbean food!

The best food in Swindon - love love love this restaurant. Staff are all so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble for them. Rum bar is a great addition to the restaurant, not sure the spiral staircase is the best idea after the cocktails - SNOWFLAKE is a must.

Found this on Tripadvisor and thought we'd give it a try as me and the hubby fancied something different. Went on Saturday night and the place was heaving. Staff were friendly and explained there would be a bit of a wait for a table, but took us to the rum lounge upstairs. I have a lovely blue rum drink and we had a bit of banter with the staff up there.

Everyone was friendly and enthusiastic. We were given the menu which is small, but caters for most tastes (including some vege options). Hubby had the lentil paratha(£4.95) to start with saltfish and akee (£7.95) main, with callaloo rice. I saved myself for the jerk mixed grill (£18.95).

Everything was delicious and fresh, even the paratha was made on the premises. Unlike some Carribean food this was spiced, without being spicy, but hot sauce was offered on the side. My mixed grill was a mountain of belly pork, chicken, steak and lamb chops in the chef's own homemade jerk marinade. The meat was all moist and well-flavoured and came with seasoned chips and coleslaw.

The only negative thing to say was that the mixed grill was served on a wooden board - this made for messy eating as bits kept sliding off the flat board and when the waitress lifted it once I had finished there was jerk juice all over the table! I also find that these wooden boards can affect the taste of the meat.

All in all a lovely night and with the bill coming to under £50 including drinks we hope to go back soon,
