“Pleasant park with open lake”

Coate Water Country Park
Ranked #4 of 55 things to do in Swindon

Having lived in the area for 23 years and some of that time living very close to the park, I am a relatively regular visitor.

We mainly use it do a brisk walk around the lake (can be slightly muddy in places if there's been recent rain). The short pavement area is smooth and ok for skating and the area is also popular with dog walkers. For the little ones there is the miniature railway, ducks, swings etc. The parking is adequate but perhaps cramped at busy times. There is a small ice-cream kiosk and toilets and children's swings and all the other facilities mentioned by other here.

Nice open park. Parking was a nightmare on a sunny day. (No over flow car park open) The childrens playground is dirty and this park is somewhat run down nowadays compared to Lydiard,
A bit of an outdoor run about, but, that is all really.

We use this country park for regular dog walks as it is our nearest green space. There is a large lake to walk around as well as pitch n' putt, crazy golf, water play, BBQs, café, playground, water sport & fishing options. Also a miniature railway. Well used whatever the weather.

This is a lovely park to spend an afternoon in. Plenty of parking (no fees), a small cafe and, on a hot summers day, a children's play area, a water park section for the children (shame no adults allowed as it would have been nice to cool off!!) and a nice long walk around the lake (2 miles). Well worth a visit.
