Being only 10 minutes away by car, walking around Lydiard is a wonderful way to pass some time or simply to take time out from the trials of life

With the new walk open you can really streach your legs, a most enjoyable walk for young or old. We often walk here with our dog, he really enjoys a good run around. You can get a decent cup of tea here and a nice toasted tea cake too.

A lovely parkland very popular for events on the outskirts of Swindon. Picnic areas are good and very pretty parkland. Thought the house was a bit pricey and overrated but glad I went there. Church is better.

I cycle round Lydiard Park 2 to 3 times a week because it is so beautiful. The house is very interesting as is the Ice House and the Walled Garden. The lake is home to much wildlife, especially two local swans who breed every year and it's wonderful watching their young grow. In the summer there is plenty of room for BBQs (you need to book one) and there is plenty to do for youngsters. I love to cycle around the perimeter, far away from anyone and enjoy the stillness. A few weeks ago I was accompanied on my ride by a young deer running alongside. It was magical. There are Gypsy Vanner horses in the adjoining fields in the summer months and often the park has cows in enclosures. Well worth a visit if you are in this area.
