I cycle round Lydiard Park 2 to 3 times a week because it is so beautiful. The house is very interesting as is the Ice House and the Walled Garden. The lake is home to much wildlife, especially two local swans who breed every year and it's wonderful watching their young grow. In the summer there is plenty of room for BBQs (you need to book one) and there is plenty to do for youngsters. I love to cycle around the perimeter, far away from anyone and enjoy the stillness. A few weeks ago I was accompanied on my ride by a young deer running alongside. It was magical. There are Gypsy Vanner horses in the adjoining fields in the summer months and often the park has cows in enclosures. Well worth a visit if you are in this area.

We often go to Lydiard Park with the dog for a walk. It is different every time you go. Depending on the season. You can get something to eat and drink during the summer period, water bowls are available for the dogs

Enjoyed the museum spent approx 3-4 hours there. Laid out well - its good to learn about the workers as well as the workings. Have a go at the simulator and drive your own train and the signal box - change all the signals to move trains about. A good place for all ages. Nice cafe for drinks and light snacks
