Stayed for 4 nights on business in room 7 which is a single on suite room ( would Also be suitable as a double)
The room was well appointed with a large bed , modern showroom and was decorated in neutral colours making the room very calming.
Being directly connected to the pub meant that good food and even better beer was easily available and was served by friendly efficient staff.
The hotel/pub is on the high street and this has a good small selection of local shops.
Large free car park,Wifi and very keen pricing make this a great alternative to the budget chains that charge for everything !

I had Sunday lunch with a friend and my beef was too chewy to eat. I managed to eat some of it rather than hand it back and took the rest home for the dog. I did tell the waiting staff but I did not get the impression that they cared much. My friend had roast pork and hers was good so a 50% success rate. The roast potatoes tasted good but the yorkshire puddings they served were inedible. Used to be so great; it is sad that it really is a pub that does food now rather than a real restaurant.

Room Tip: Did'nt stay.

Pleasent location and surprisingly quiet. Staff friendly and an excellent breakfast. Booked last minute and proved to be excellent value. Room large and in very good decorative order having been recently refurbished.

I go to the saracens at least once a month to have dinner and a glass of wine. Simple pub fare. Only thing I'd suggest is- pleasepleaseplease get some more vegetarian options. I get bored of the same old vege lasagne or a salad...and please no more canelloni or rissoto.
Aside from that, I've been coming here for YEARS and it's passed over a few owners but it's pretty darn good now. Decent food for a decent price with good service.

Not a place for the discerning traveller, basically a pub/restaurant with rooms that are a bit 'tired'. Also a bit of a trial finding your room, and a bit of a musty smell in the communal passageways. However what do you expect for £40 for a double room on a Saturday night including breakfast ? OK it will do the job if you're on a budget, but I'd go elsewhere in future and pay a little more.

Reception OK but key given out with instructions but no help to find room in a rabbit warren of rooms.

Reception and Bar staff friendly but maybe not attentive. My request online for 1st floor room because of elderly angina ridden companion was ignored and we were dispatched to # 12, the roof top 'Family Room' up 2 flights of stairs.

Rooms really a bit poor with tiny bathrooms where sitting on the toilet usually means twisting yourself round the sink. I stayed in one OK room (#9) but then in the same room (#4) as the other visitor as I too saw the mildew.

This is a very old coaching Inn so must be hard to maintain but what could be regarded as 'characterful' feels actually just like disrepair. I did notice some renovations going on so fingers crossed.

Bar Food was good and the breakfast was huge and excellent with a lovely lady serving who could not do enough to please!

This hotel is cheaper than the others and so in my criticisms I remember that this is perhaps why!

I reckon this Inn could charge higher prices if it improved its rooms as it is in a good location with safe parking. C'mon Saracen's Gead- just buck your ideas up a but - it would be worth your while

Stayed 1 night for a hiking weekend with friends. Food was good and reasonably priced. The hotel has its own good parking round the back. The building could do with renovating (like so many inns in the UK): very dated rooms, large cracks in walls, stains, lots of naked plumbing and wiring. The windows let all the noise from the street in and the curtains don't block the light.
Though the hallways are fitted with emergency lights, there were nearly no normal everyday lights, so very dark...how odd. Beds were mediocre.
