Description: Welcome to the Toby Carvery The Friary. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Swindon’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

“Good quality carvery, good service ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

You know what you're getting with a Toby carvery. This place is no different to the few others I've been to. The food is freshly cooked, due to the volume it has to be replaced regularly. It was hot, plentiful and tasty.
The service was good, friendly and prompt. All in all a good hearty meal.

“Great value all-you-eat breakfast, but need more staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014

I have eaten here before for lunch but this was our first visit for breakfast.
£3.99 for all-you-can-eat is great value, add £1.99 for unlimited tea or coffee. You can add mushrooms, which we didn't so I can not comment on whether they are tinned or fresh, fried or sauted, or the amount that you get.
Bacon, fried eggs, sausages, rosti, beans, tomatoes and a strange mix of new potatoes, cheese and onions which was advertised as a breakfast hash. The pictures and description said that this was potatoes, onions and bacon. Whilst I think I would have liked the advertised version the dish available was not to my taste.
You can't complain about the cost but you can certainly complain about the lack of staff to clear the tables. Having paid first for our meals, we then had to try to find a table, then clear it and use wet wipes (from my handbag) to wipe it down, then try to find cutlery.

“Ok if you like queueing for your food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

We went as someone in our group had the £6.50 voucher. Had we not had been with a group I would have left without eating. Took us 15/20 minutes to queue for our food. If it was worth queuing for I would understand but its just a roast - that you can get in any pub/ hungry horse for probably around the same price. . Only one person serving which is just silly.

First and last visit.

“Gorgeous Roast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

Had a lovely carvery with the family as usual. But this time the potatoes were Crunchy not soft like usual.. This is how a roast potato should always be...Crunchy on the outside soft in the centre..Meat is always tender, veg slightly more harder than i like this time, but the potatoes..PERFECT
Looking forward to returning next time..

“Amazing Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Had an amazing meal here last night with my partner. Food was hot, service was amazing and all whilst working under the pressure of running a busy restaurant.

Although busy i think the stress could have been controlled better if hostess seated tables individually instead of trying to seat 5 at once and then getting stressed when she couldnt pass when there was a Que for the carvery.

Only tip i would give is book in advance if you know when you want to come.
