Visited last week with 4 grandchildren and small dog. I've not been for over 10 years and there has been lots of changes to the children's play area; all for the good. If you take your dog you are not allowed in the play areas which I agree is a good thing, it didn't affect our day. Brilliant day out and lots to do. The day I visited there were lots of free activities put on by the council like bug hunts, face painting, golf lessons and lots more.

This is a very popular place to visit and it is easy to see why. There are two large play parks, a splash pad, a skate park and a boating lake. There is also a little railway that will take you from one side of the park to the other when running. There is also a small courtyard area where there is a little cafe, a plate painting place for children, some toilets and a couple of little shops. There are plenty of big open fields on which to play football and other ball sports and it is also a good place to walk dogs.
It's a nightmare at bank holidays in particular though due to the fact that it has an entrance directly off a main island so when everyone is queuing in an attempt to find a car parking spot which can clog up the roundabout and the roads that lead to it, so be sure to get there early and have a pocketful of change for your car parking money.

A quiet walk and a cup of tea
Really good pitch and put course
And when grandchildren visit a whole fun day with lots to do. It's always their first choice
The paddling pool is a boon this weather
A good really cheap day out and easily accessed on the bus
For disabled drivers there is extra space by the pitch and put office. Just ask and the lady will but the barrier down for you ... with a smile !
Well done Derby

Great new play area, suitable for a range of ages, lovely outdoor paddling pool, donkeys, canoes, crazy golf, play electric cars & generally a nice park with open grass and wooded walks.

Visited the park today. It has a massive issue with rubbish, the bins are overloaded, rubbish is strewn ever where. The grass is full of litter.....very unpleasant. Surely the park managers could have foreseen the volume of visitors!!
