Stayed at the International Hotel for business on the 5th July, the staff were very helpful and polite, the food in the restaurant was brilliant, the rooms were good but could do with a face lift.

Worst hotel eveer been in. Room shabby, bathroom stank from a wet carpet, scratched all night in a bed that looked as though had the last persons sheets still on as found hair in the bed. Breakfast had been pre-cooked and left on a table to go cold..lovely, cold fried egg!!!

I paid £50 for a night in the international hotel (derby), and got a room with a double bed and a single bed. Room was of a good size, and furnishing's were ok. But no glasses for water in the room, had to ring reception and the guy didnt have a clue whether the tap water in the bathroom was drinkable. Room service was pants, paid £2 for the tinyiest glass bottle of foreign pepsi i have ever seen in my life, with an odd collection of pint glasses sent up with a jug of water. Breakfast was sent up as room service, which was paid for within the cost of the room. Again horrid, nothing to drink at all, breakfast was an egg, some mushrooms, and a fried tomatoe, with a croissant, soggy fruit salad and non vegetarian yoghurt (had gelatine, when specifically requested a vegetarian breakfast).

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend in Oct 2005. It was booked as part of a coach trip to Alton Towers and due to this I wasn't really expecting much. Thankfully I was wrong and it was a lovely hotel. When I stayed it seemed as though the bathrooms had been recently been refurbished and was lovely. The room was huge with a comfortable bed.
We stayed in the hotel for our evening meal and breakfast. Although the food itself was very good the staff, unfortunately weren't. There had been a mix up with my someone elses order and the staff simply took his meal without asking him and gave it to the other person! Despite that it was a lovely meal and the food was amazing.
I would stay there again but next time my boyfriend will have to keep hold of his food!!!!

I stayed here for one night in a Director's Room with a jacuzzi bath (oooh) as a treat for myself. It cost £86 bed and breakfast.

The hotel looksl like it hasn't been refurbished for about 15-20 years or so. The anaglypta wallpaper is either cream or white that has got dirty. Either way it looks dirty to me.

The room itself was a very good size (about 70% larger than a standard average hotel room) with a big TV. It only had a double bed and that wasn't all that great - it was in need of a new matress and probably complete replacement. The furnishings were functional but very dated.
The jacuzzi bath was great - one of those corner ones - only big enough for one but still fine, even though the bathroom decor was like the decor elsewhere - dated. If you can look past this, then you'd enjoy the hotel.

The breakfast was fine. Buffet style and the usual choices for English brekky - they had black pudding which is always a good sign. Again, the restaurant feels dated.

If you like your hotels to be up to the minute, then this is probably a 1 or 2 blob place. If these things don't bother you, or reflect your home style, then you'll probably love this place. I'm giving them a 2 blob for not spending money on refurbishing the place recently.

Before my arrival at the hotel, my perceived notions of what i was going to be granted for my parture with my currency, overexceeded towards my expectations. Due to the hotel having being vouched a 3star rating, i was naturally expecting a average room with a tolerable to substandard level of service - this wasnt what prevailed!!
Right from the very beginnings of my stay,i was made to feel very valued and looked after. This was really a team effort that came from all staff departments in both the back and front of the hotel. The only critical point i have is towards the night porter. Prehaps he may feel underpaid or undervalued, (self-ingested kind of notion that the bosses pretend to pay, so he shall pretend to work...) it shouldn't mean that he should disengage himself towards me. Apart from that i highly reccommend The Hotel International to anyone who wants a fantastic higher level scale of a service, to a price that is more than right on your night !! !! Kevin Patrick Tite !! !!
