“New Years Eve”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

Arrived at the Stuart to a warm welcome at reception, this is the 3rd time we have stayed, made our way to our room that was on the ground floor, the room was a fair sized double room and was clean and well maintained. We had booked for the family party night which was a great night, excellent buffet, great nights sleep in comfortable bed, next morning late rising and went down to full English breakfast.
All the staff were very friendly and efficient, would recommend this night to anyone

Stayed here recently on a very late booking deal and got it for a bargain price. The room was absolutely fine, clean and tidy. It has everything you'd expect from a hotel of this type and more.

It's location is ideal for Derby city centre and it has free parking too - can't complain!

Staff were good and friendly, check in quick and easy. I'd definitely stay here again.

I stay in the Stuart hotel not long ago and from the moment i walked in it was a nightmare miserably people on reception. the room was tiny and dirty so i asked to change room and they tried to charge me for an upgraded so ask to see the manager Mr christian more like Mr booze he smells so bad of alcohol i had to step back . On the up side i was very impressed with the food in the Restaurant and i was happy with one of the young chef coming out to see if my meal was OK. thank you but i will not be staying again

For the price I paid 29.00GBP +8.00GBP for breakfast, the service was good, clean pleasant room - bit like a travel lodge style, but with more storage space, wardrobe, draws, TV, bathroom, shampoo and soap a mini fridge and proper opening windows! Breakfast well presented fresh fruit, toast, juice, muesli, coffee ect was brought to my room on time and was very pleasant.

The down side was that the room was a little too hot, had to sleep with the window open, very noisy (even with the window closed) there was a party on until midnight, then the female guests came up the swearing, yelling, crying, which disturbed my sleep for a few hours. The main thing that lets the place down, is that they cant get a better mannered clientele.

Location excellent 3 mins walk from the train station, 1 min from the hospital, 4 mins to the shopping city center.

Just had a 40th birthday party at this hotel and it was great. There were over 20 of us, including 6 young children, and we were all very impressed with the food. It was served hot, there was plenty of it, and everyone agreed it tasted very nice - thanks to Pete the Chef. The events manager, Lyndsey, was extremely accomodating and delivered everything we requested. Special thanks on the night though must go to Lallie, who looked after us in the restaurant. He was very proffessional and did everything he could to make sure we had a good night. He was very attentative but also discreet and very genuine and friendly. We weren't rushed at all and each course was served at the pace we wanted. Thank you Lallie for making the difference to our evening. I didn't stay at this hotel so can't comment on the accomodation but I would definitely go there again for a large family meal.

I came with my daughter for afternoon tea as I had purchased a Groupon Voucher as a treat for her before we went shopping in Derby.
Parking was easy as there is on on site car park.
However although we were only 5 minutes early we we told to wait in the foyer or the bar.
We were then left in there for at least 15 minutes although there were only a few people in the dining room.
We were then given the tea menu.
No one came back for another 10 minutes.!
When the food eventualy arrived we were very disappointed.
It was on an ordinary plate and not a display stand. Other people seem to have them.
My main problem was how plain and tiny the sandwiches were (We have had afternoon tea at many places before and these were the smallest). We had 2 plain cheese sandwiches, two cucumber sandwiches and two ham. These were accompanied by a few crisps (No salad garnish or bit of greenery at all)
We were then bought the cake. The victoria sandwich and the lemon cake were lovely but the scone was the tiniest I have seen.
No one came and asked if we had enjoyed our meal so we left feeling rather disappointed.
For the price I paid (£13) it was just adequate. But for the full price off £20 pp it would have been extremely poor.
