My wife and I stayed for one night, in November 2012. The Hotel very good indeed, considering it is listed as a budget hotel. We found the staff helpful, the room very comfortable, clean, and well appointed. There was a minor problem with the "key card", which was sorted quickly with very little fuss.

This hotel is situated in Pride Park, 5 mins from the football ground and 2 minutes from Derby Railway station. Situated in what was the British Railway Locomotive Workshops, of which the Roundhouse still exists as a entertainment venue. A 10 minute walk along the River will take you to the City Centre. The staff at this Hotel are friendly and always willing to help. The rooms are spotless and value for money. There are Pubs and Restaurants close by, but the City Centre and it's night-life take some beating.

Stayed here on business for a night in Dec 2011.

The location was okay as it was just 2 min's walk from the train station and about 10 min to walk to the town centre.

The room was decent - standard HI Express size and layout. I always think that HI's rooms are a bit small and this is just the same. The hotel in general looked a bit old. They can definitely use a minor refurb, i.e. change of wallpaper, carpets, upholstery, sheets and curtains.

Other than that it was overall a decent stay.

Thank you for your review of the Holiday Inn Express Derby.
Since your stay with us (in December 2011) the hotel has installed new 32 inch flat screen televisions into all bedrooms, along with a phased replacement of duvets and bedding.

I note from your review scorings that you had a good night`s sleep at the hotel and that the standard of cleanliness was high.I do hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.

Angela Nicholls

This hotel is vey easy to locate The area around is pretty quite being located in a sort of mixed commercial development lots of offices and a couple of chain restaurants and hotels. It is a fairly new hotel and the rooms were bright clean and the bathroom as you would expect only had a shower. Hotel is not far from the main station in Derby and there is a back entrance if you show your room key they let you through the station to cross the tracks to the sort of center of Derby. Check in and check out all very smooth the staff were very friendly and helpful only to pleased to point out directions and to give advice. Breakfast was very basic but it is free. There is not much more to say

Good points were, friendly staff and free parking.

Bad points and this goes for a lot of holiday inns they charge rip off prices for WiFi. I am staying more & more in other hotel groups that have free WiFi.

Good standard as usual, does exactly what it says on the tin. Clean adequate rooms good location and good choices for breakfast. If you're in the area stay here. My only bugbear with holiday inns is the lack of any free wi fi.

We stayed at this HIE on Saturday night before racing at the Queen's leisure centre on Sunday (so easy to get to!). The staff on reception on Saturday evening were friendly and welcoming (shame about the receptionist on Sunday morning who was less so! not even asking if all was OK with the stay) The room was clean, fresh and great TV. Towels soft and bathroom well appointed. We had a good night's sleep especially as we could adjust the room temp to our liking. The only hiccup with our room was we were near the lift but the hotel was not busy and therefore no really noisey guests.

The biggest disappointment was breakfast, I know this is a budget hotel but have been to other HIEs and the breakfast has been great. We got down at around 10.30am late but it was Sunday! The cooked food was more or less empty, my daughter had a few dried baked beans on toast. She filled up with other bread products but even the fruit was looking a little depleted.

Overall we would use this again but feel that a closer eye needs to be kept on breakfast....

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the lift - 301,302 were in the lobby on the 3rd floor

Thank you for your review and feedback from your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Derby.

I am pleased to read that your room was both comfortable and fresh and that you were impressed with our 32 inch flatscreen TVs - these have been welcomed by all of our guests!

It is disappointing to hear that the reception staff on Sunday morning did not offer the level of customer service that we strive towards and I can assure you that this will be addressed.
Also I note your comments about breakfast and will ensure that food levels are monitored more closely in future.

Angela Nicholls
