We were visiting family in the area and this is within a mile, so very convenient for us. Clean, but some things looked a little tired - towels were a lityle frayed and some of the decor was a bit faded. It was nice enough - we just wanted somewhere to crash and it served us fine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - cannot fault them on service.

We selected this hotel for it's close proximity to alton towers and met our requirements as we needed a evening meal and breakfast the next morning.
Beware of the hot water, it's scalding hot and there was no glass in the bathroom. The TV reception was poor and the TV was old. But these are really minor issues. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The restaurant serves a reasonable carvery and breakfast was good.We would use it again if we were in the area.

This is a lovely hotel with nice and friendly staff, I must say that this hotel is dated but still clean, it is more for the older generation but that won't stop you having a nice stay, perfect for one night. With a carvery restaurant and another restaurant serving beautiful 4course menu for about 15pounds. The carvery is great value (lovely gammon) and on friday its 3.50 for a soup and carvery. The hotel was £50 for 1 night for 2 people bed and breakfast. The breakfast had a good choice from a selection of hot meals to continental. Good value for money and clean!

Decided to try this as an alternative to the nearby Mickleover Court hotel where I have stayed before and not been impressed as to its value for money. This hotel is more like a motel and on a cold March night with the room opening onto all the elements it was draughty. There was no central heating, a wall - mounted electric heater that creaked and a fan heater on the bathroom wall. Had to get back into bed whilst the bathroom warmed up before I could face a wash! The room was very clean but a bit dated. The best thing here is the value for money carvery which is amazingly cheap - on Wednesday it is full of locals because it is only £2.99! Yes, that is no mistake! Nice and friendly perople in the restaurant/ carvery and well - cooked breakfast. Convenient for Derby but watch out for heavy traffic on A38 in mornings.

Room Tip: A room on the top floor has nice views and is probably quieter

Stayed here 3 times now and cannot fault the rooms (£49.99 B&B double) which are ,I would say,3 star standard and very clean and cosy.Good power shower and just yards from there newly decorated bar and carvery or alternatively their smart restaurant.Wifi is free and you get sky sports on the room TV!

Service is excellent and food fantastic value (carvery £3.99!!! and £2.99 on Weds).I have had surf and turf (£8.99) and some lovely real ale (Doom Bar). There is also a good selection of wine.

Breakfast is also very good quality in the restaurant.

Perfect for the A50.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a good view (9 and 11) and are warm and inviting.

Although I did not stay in the hotel features, i do visit regularly for a nice carvery! There carvery is very well priced and is always delicious. It also beats a lot of other pubs/restaurants that do carvery.
The little over lodge is not a huge place and can get busy so I do advise to book.
It is definitely worth a visit, and worth £6 of anyones money for a carvery.

We spent three nights midweek and would certainly stay there again. There is one pub serving food nearby but two of the evenings we ate in the carvery which was great value for money. The carvery is popular with locals and can however get crowded on some week nights so its best to book. The car park can be full as well early evening. Breakfast was also good.

Room Tip: Some rooms ground floor and some first so you may wish to specify if you wish a preference.
