Have stayed in a lot of hotels of this brand. Was delighted by the can do attitude of the staff and their friendly nature. The hotel itself is very modern and smack in the middle of the city next to the shopping centre. Not quiet but very functional.
Will definitely return.

We stayed Holiday inn on a weekend trip with a coach company. The room was clean and comfortable. The only snag we had we were over the bus station, so Saturday night was a bit noisy. The dinners and breakfast were excellent.

Good clean modern Holiday Inn. Prime location for Westfield Shopping and Central Derby. Free Wi-Fi and friendly staff. Car Parking is across the road which is not a massive problem. Certainly one of the better Holiday Inns and will stay again

Having checked into our rooms earlier in the evening, we returned at around 10.30pm expecting to get a good night's sleep. However, our rooms were on the second floor, directly above the casino. There was a tribute band on and the music was loud enough for us to hear every word the performers were singing. I went down to reception to complain and was told that it should be over by midnight. I'm sure this cannot be the first time that the hotel has received complaints about the noise in these rooms from the casino below and am most disappointed that the rooms were allocated to us on a night when there was such a loud event on directly beneath. We expected to feel rested the following morning but instead began the day feeling tired and cross.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room on 2nd floor!

Stayed here over the weekend and everything was perfect.

The room was clean and modern with enough space. The room had all the facilities you would expect from 4* hotels like a safe, fridge, iron & board, kettle, coffee & tea`s, flat screen, hairdryer, air-con, etc.

Breakfast was good and they did make me an espresso when asked so very pleased. The bed was slightly uncomfortable but then I have a very good mattress at home so this is understandable as this is not a 5* hotel.

All in all very good.

Location, perfect next to the shopping centre and lots of eatieries etc,and discounted parking, for £7.00 and that took us up until midnight the following day, so could go and do more retail therapy without worrying over car parks,
Reception, check in very good, and nice friendly staff also on check out,
Rooms very nice, and spacious, and really clean, and modern, and a lovely bathroom, with lovely shower, water not that hot though.
Breakfast, was a big let down, staff, just seemed not to be interested, brought us a tiny pot of tea, for two, when in fact we asked another member of staff for some more tea, as we only got half a cup each out of the little pot, we then got brought tea for two,
Buffet cooked breakfast was just the scragg ends all dried up and only replinshed after approx 30 minutes, which was to late then.
We did however mention this to reception on our check out and they apologised saying they had a coach book in, and maybe they eate all of it,,,ermmmmmm, still should have been replinished,
My husband and myself found waiting staff,to be not interested, this was at approx. 9.30 to 9.45, and apparently breakfast was being served until 11.a.m. Guests where arriving later than us for breakfast, and probably got a nicer fresh cooked HOT,,,,Breakfast, ours was very cold, and never set us up for the day, as it usually does, infact we had to go and purchase a Sunday Carvery later on.

The Holiday Inn Derby is a modern “tech” feeling hotel in downtown. The property appears to be new, and as such is clean and shows few signs of wear. Our room was larger than average, the bed quite comfortable, had a large, flat screen TV with lots of channels, and the bathroom was more spacious than others we found throughout England. The internet was free but required an access code. Breakfast was not included in our rate.
Access and parking, however, was a hassle. We arrived in the rain, and you need to stop in front of the hotel (not obvious) on a busy street to drop off your luggage. Someone will then need to go inside to get information on parking, which is in a big structure a block or two from the hotel. Overnight parking is an additional $9. In the rain, it is not an ideal situation.
This hotel is in the center of the action and there are a large number of good hotels and bars within short walking distance. The front desk personnel were British reserved, but more than eager to give us restaurant recommendations and directions.
After a week of B&B’s in England, it was nice to stay in a reasonably price, conventional, and squeaky clean hotel. Our rate was good, and if you get one you will like it.
