“City centre business hotel”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Stayed here on business with my wife. Excellent new city centre hotel with good clean, functional bedrooms. Great views from most high bedrooms (it goes up to 10th floor). Storage space sparse in bedrooms, but it is business. Breakfasts were more than excellent, so very good value all round. Short walk to centre and easy to get to. Little car parking space so bit of a first come-first served basis, but public carpark nearby.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views

I stayed here with a colleague for a night on a business trip and was really impressed. Excellent service levels, great room and a good central location. The staff were proactive which seems to be rare these days, we ordered a taxi the night before and double checked in the morning, when it had not arrived the receptionist chased without prompting. Thank you I was very impressed and will definitely stay again.

a modern hotel with good views over the city from the floor to ceiling window -a bit disconcerting if you don't like heights - my room on the 7th floor was comfortable with a good size bathroom let down by the loo paper that was not of the best quality. Breakfast was good with a wide range of choices and the staff were helpful. Connection to the internet was very expensive at £10 for 24hours compared to other hotels eg £30 for a month at a travelodge but there are plenty of free wifi hotspots in the city

Stayed on an overnight stay with friends for shopping and an evening out. For the purpose of our stay the hotel was good and very reasonable rate for B&B (£26 each) the hotel is located on a network of roads however you don't hear the noise of traffic. The rooms were large, modern and clean.
The bar area was comfortable however I asked for an Irish coffee and was told they had no cream so they couldn't make one ( this was on a saturday night)
The breakfast was poor and the resturant was faceless. The food was poor quality and not very hot, tea and coffee came from a machine
Reception staff were pleasant and check in was swift.
Would only return here if I got the same good rate, not the place for a weekend away or romantic break, a hoel of convenience

We stayed with two Small children in May. We had a room with one double, one single, and a "camp" bed. That left very little floor space. The bathroom is small and not particularly clean. The beds were comfortable enough. The parking is bizarre and annoying: the entrance is hard to find if you don't know the city, and we got the last space in a small lot under the hotel. We then had to lug suitcases outside in the rain to the front entrance (one of the photos shows this accurately). If we had not got a space in that lot there is no indication of what to do, and indeed there are no signs in the lot itself showing how to get to the hotel lobby. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants but otherwise is a very pedestrian, functional hotel. I suppose it is about right for the cost, but I would look for better if returning to Derby.

For a trip to Chatsworth and the Peak District, I stayed at the Jurys Inn, which is a smoke-free property located in the Cathedral Quarter, The hotel is close to the Westfield Centre Shopping Center, the Museum and Art Gallery, which was first opened in 1882, and a couple minutes walk to the Derby Cathedral. The University of Derby is also nearby. There are 213 rooms with a/c, safes, coffee/tea makers, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. There is in-room wired high-speed Internet access for a fee, but complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the public areas . There is a restaurant, coffee shop and a bar/lounge. Although I did not avail myself of the amenities, there is a 24-hour fitness area, laundry facilities and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. The pay parking under the hotel is quite limited, but there is nearby pay parking. My very quiet room overlooked the city and was on the eighth floor. As an aside, the windows in my room did open for fresh air. Buffet style breakfasts are very good.....cold and hot are available. The hot food was replenished often.

Room Tip: If ice is important, request a floor that has an ice machine on it.

Everything you expect from a jurys inn. The staff were really helpful, the rooms clean and modern. Breakfast was average but for the price would still say great value for money. It is in a good position for shops/ restaurants/ nightlife. A great location if meeting up with people from around the country as its central and only a couple of hours drive for everyone. Only negative point was very small carpark but a multi story carpark is just across the road. One tip ..Drive slowly when you approach the hotel as its a quick right turn as you come off the ring road and if you miss it you are back in the one way system ( a lot of lane swapping involved !!)
