“excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

We have eaten in the Oakwood a few times and each time the service has been excellent. The food is well cooked and plentiful and the atmosphere is quite cozy. Curry night is good value, with a good range of curries for you to taste, including a vegetarian one. We wouldn't hesitate about returning in the future.

Stayed for a weekend break. We have stayed in quite a few Premier Inns, as we like the consistent quality, cleanliness and good restaurants attached.
Our room was indeed spotless and the staff friendly and attentive. Now the downside..The room was the smallest we have stayed in at a Premier Inn, the floor boards creaked terribly, and the walls were paper thin. I was awoken one evening by our neighbour moving their coathangers along the rail!! We could hear their kettle boiling, their conversations & their telly. I dont think the room quality really matched with what we have come to expect from a Premier Inn. There were only 2 plug sockets and one mirror (outside of the bathroom). The sockets were too far away to be able to use my hair straighteners & see what I was doing! There was no shelf in the bathroom so all toiletries had to be stored on top of the toilet, which wasn't really ideal. Again, we are really used to better from Premier Inn.
We used the adjoining TableTable restaurant for our evening meals & breakfasts. The first night the two of us were seated at the end of a table for 8! even though we had booked ahead and the receptionist had confirmed it for us. Not very romantic! The second night we had the 2 meals & a bottle of wine for £16, unfortunately neither the bar staff or the tills were aware of this & we were overcharged by £14 which we then had to go back and resolve. We were never even offered dessert!
The reason we picked this hotel was due to the excellent reviews it had received on here and we did wonder if we were actually at the same hotel! I am very glad we stayed at a discounted rate if we had payed full whack I would have been very disgruntled and I definitely did expect better from the restaurant. Out of all the Premier Inns we have stayed at this was, for room size and quality unfortunately not of a comparable standard to the others.

Thank you for your review of Gloucester Twigworth Premier Inn. Firstly I would like to sincerely apologise that we didnt live up to the expectations that your previous stays with Premier Inn had given. The part of the hotel you stayed in is a grade 2 listed building so the room sizes and layout vary compared to a purpose built Premier Inn, we would of gladly transferred you to a room you would of been more comfortable in. I have spoken to the restaurant manager in regards to the meal and wine offer and he has resolved it by fixing the till function and retraining the team. Once again I would like to thank you for your feedback.

Kind regards

Stayed here for 2 nights (whitsun week) and wished it had been longer. Greeted by friendly, smiley, helpful staff which continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Our room was set up for a family of 4 and was immaculate.

A very good breakfast. The cooked breakfast was cooked to order. Perfect each morning.

Location was good.

Will definitely stay here again.

Excellent, friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much for them. A good breakfast. Variety and cooked perfectly. Good Costa coffee was a bonus.
Location was good. Easy access to pleasant Cotswold villages.

As you can see, this is our second time here. Two nights this time; This time we had my 90 year old mum with us. Mum had a disabled room, low bath, & toilet. I still think that the disabled rooms should have a walk in shower, it's even hard for young persons to step over the bath sides!!! The staff as usual, were very helpful & very friendly. The rooms were clean, nice beds, great shower power, but why do we have to ask for another set of bathroom towels, when there are a two people in the room?
The local area tourist board had the usual interesting places to visit, but very sadly, no street map of Gloucester, which is just a few miles down the road, but I don’t think it’s the fault of the hotel.
The restaurant next door was very good, a small few changes from before, but for the better I think, the lay out, & the breakfast was served in a different area. The staff were excellent, for our meal in the evening, & breakfast, always smiling, & very willing to talk with us about anything, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all.

Room Tip: The main road can be busy in the morning if turning right to go South, but about 9am, when we were o...

Thank you for your review of Gloucester Twigworth Premier Inn. Im happy to read that you had decided to stay with us again. I would like to apologise for the lack of towels provided in your room, this was due to a change from the room you were originally allocated so you could be close to your mum upon check in, we set the unoccupied rooms up for single use but we should of picked this up when checking you in. We do provide a map of Gloucester city centre at the reception desk and are more than happy to find maps and directions to anywhere of interest for you. I will pass on your very kind comments to the restaurant manager and team at The Oakwood as well as the hotel team.

Kind regards
