We went to the Cathedral today to see the poppy display these were knitted poppies and were very nice not quite as grand as the displays near London.

Cathedrals in the UK are always worth a visit and this is no exception.

A friendly welcome. Guided tours.

I did find the Harry Potter stuff for sale in the gift shop rather an odd choice.

The Cathedral is full of history, and that is presented in an imaginative way - in the garden outside, with plaques inside, with helpful guides and displays. The architecture is inspiring and beautiful. But the Cathedral staff also want to encourage local churches to see the Cathedral as their corporate space. This is happening more and more. Before a visit, it is worth checking the website for events and services.

Took our 8 yr old Grandson for a tour of the Cathedral and to see the Poppy Waterfall, didn’t realise how interested he would be but he loved it, especially the upstairs activities, had lunch there as well (Monks Kitchen) I think it was called! Lovely food, all in all a great way to spend a day, even bought a Christmas present, decs and Christmas cards in the shop.

The church is set in the old part of the ancient city of Gloucester and was used to film scenes from Harry Potter.

I feel so lucky to live so near to the Cathedral. At the moment there is an amazing waterfall of poppies

This really is a truly magnificent building and being refurbished has made it even better. Right in the heart of the city but so tranquil - can just sit and relax or simply admire its beauty. Lovely walk right around but it is just such a pity that cars are allowed to park in front of the other buildings that surround it Fully understandable, of course, but still such a shame.
Always visit here when in the city and next time must take the time to explore the interior once again.
Well worth an hour, or even longer, of anyones time.

a short visit was made very poignant by the lovely WW1 memorial poppy waterfall in the nave. I paid respects to family members who'd served ,it was very moving.

As my title suggests this is the thing to visit if in Gloucester and it does not disappoint. Could spend well over one hour looking around and discovering the rich history of this cathedral. Big shout out to all the Cole trees who are so welcoming, smiling and kind. They make the place to. Highly recommended.
