Four of us visited C & W African restaurant after good internet reviews. They were not wrong. An excellent evening. The C standing for Charlie and the W his wife Wanya who did all the cooking.
Charlie could not have been more friendly. It was as if we were regulars and they had known us previously. The wonderful atmosphere was matched only by the food. Excellent banquet. We arrived at 8pm and left about 11.30pm. You could receive your courses as slowly or as quickly as you wanted. The whole evening was paced to suit you. We will certainly be going back and taking additional friends with us!

You get a very warm greeting by Charlie and Wanya on arrival and they make you feel very much at home. Our group went for the banquet with a leg of lamb (which was really good) and all manner of curries including goat. It is home cooking at its best, very reasonable prices, the friendliest people and you cannot help but fall for the African experience. Definitely worth a visit!

There's now way this review will do this place justice. We arrived to a warm welcome and a fantastic smell of food. We were out of our comfort zone in terms of menu but, to try something new was the best thing we could have done. Goat, chicken and Lamb were all amazing and cooked with love and care. However it was the hospitality and approach of the owners that complimented the food. You can go to London, Paris or Rome and not find a better demeanour from the owner/staff and if you don't try it your missing out. The ratings on here are all true!!

Over the Easter weekend I visited some friends in Gloucester who had arranged for us to have dinner at the African Experience. My only experience of African cuisine is Ugali (which is tasteless and nasty) so I was feeling quite apprehensive about dining in an African restaurant....how wrong I was to be worried. I had the best meal. The real appeal of the restaurant is that you can bring your own alcohol which is really rare and a nice touch. The owners are incredible friendly, welcoming and polite. The food is incredible, real home cooked food full of flavour that deserves the highest of praise. Portions are ample and the price is really reasonable. I had one of the best evenings out and was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. I would definitely recommend this to friends if they were visiting Gloucester and can't recommend eating here enough. A very unique and tasty dining experience.
