This is an old coaching inn and it has retained all its old features.
Its just worth going into the entrance to look at the way the building is surrounding the courtyard with no alterations.

Spent a recent weekend in Gloucester and visited this inn twice, staff lovely both times; Especially the young lad in the restaurant on the Friday evening, very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good everyone in the party of 5 enjoyed their meal. Loved the courtyard and history. will definately be visiting again

Had lunch today with my family and grandparents. We were seated right at the back where no one else was sat- no atmosphere. The table was not fully set. Most of us chose the carvery, which was not worth the price paid, (better off going to the Toby carvery) which went cold quick. The service was poor. The waitresses failed to clean our plates. We had to get up to ask for the pudding menu. The pudding was even served whilst our dirty plates sat on the table with us. Again, we had to get up to request if our plates could be moved, which were moved by the time the desert course was finished.

We understand that a wedding function was on at the time. But as a waitress I know this should not be an excuse for poor service.

Such a shame as we were visiting on recommendation.

Stayed there for 2 nights. Loved the courtyard. Facilities a little outdates -- TV was strange; wifi working off and on, etc. But I loved the atmosphere and the feeling of history. Built in 1450, it is worth a visit!

The down side of this inn, is that you cant park close to drop your bags. Or i couldn't find it. this places takes you back in time as soon as you walk in the courtyard, and has an olde worlde feel about it. The tv and rooms are a bit dated, but hay if you walked in to a cutting edge technology filled room it would spoil the atmosphere. This place says what it is on the tin, breakfast was good but we didn't eat in the evening. And keep in mind it is a city centre pub so expect some noise..
