We have just spent the week end in Gloucester, staying over night at The Linden Tree. We had a warm welcome on arrival. The rooms where clean, crisp linen sheets, with all the expected amenities. The owner is a connoissuer of real ale and keeps his ales in excellant condition. Our full english breakfast was excellant as was the service in the morning. Excellant location for the docks and city centre, just a gentle five minute walk away. Or you can take the bus into town, bus stops just outside the pub.

Room Tip: top of the house is room six

Stayed here just one night, The welcome was warm and the room had everything you would need. So pleased to have found a decent B&B in Gloucester that I have booked again for next week. This pub is in a prime location to vist all the points of interest in Gloucester city, 5 mins to the historic docks and shopping outlet, and a gentle 15 minute stroll into the town and the cathedral. Good buses services if you need.
There is no parking available, but not an issue for me as parked at nearby relatives house. Breakfast was fabulous and plentiful.
I would choose Linden Tree over the impersonal Travelodge every time

the linden tree was as lovely inside as it was on the outside. When we got there the staff were very ameniable and couldnt do enough for you, including booking a table at the local chinese they referred to us. It was excellent value for money. The room was just what you would expect for the money, but they swung it for me with the tea/coffee making facilities. the land lord and landlady were very helpful and very approachable for anything you required, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was outstanding, very big!!! but tastey. Will definitely be going back again and again. Found a real gem.

I stayed at the Linden Tree for two nights in May 2010, would have stayed longer had a room been available. I dont recognise the place as written in the other reviews. I wasn't travelling by car so didn't have the parking issue. The area is undergoing devolopment but I wouldn't call it "rough" by any means. The Pub itself is very pleasant, the selection of real ales is very good as is the ale itself. The locals I found very friendly, had a long and interesting chat with several of them on my first night. The proprieters were very friendly and helpful ( printing out an online map of Gloucester for me ) and the food was above average for pub grub. I can see that not serving breakfast might be a problem for some people but you know that when you book !
Its a short walk to a cafe serving a very nice breakfast at a very reasonable price.
The room rate fo single occupancy was competetive with anything I else I saw when researching my trip. My room was clean and comfortable and that is all one would ask.
All in all I was very happy with the Linden Tree and will stay there again this year if I can.

The rooms are expensive for what they are, basic and a bit shabby No breakfasts are served. Car parking is in a slightly disreputable location, away from the pub.

The pub is good, excellent selection of beers. Simple cheap bar food was also good value. Helpful barstaff. Could recommend the pub but not the accomodation

The guy who runs it was nice, and it's near the centre. The room was quite big, and not at all smoky (can be a problem with pubs). But apart from that, there's no breakfast available even if you want to pay for it, the bed had the cheapest most bouncy mattress ever, with plastic covers on the pillows, the room was really hot (I know it's warm weather but all night it was hot even with the window open), it's quite a rough area so you fear for your car though mine was fine, and when you go into the pub they all look at you like "foreigner alert", it felt more like a £25 place than a £50 place. I could have done much better for £50.
