A christmas work's lunch time meal consisting of ten of us. Lovely traditional pub, fabulous log fires, yes plural!, good service, very welcoming. We all ordered various meals, all very happy with what we had. I had the goats cheese and sun dried tomato filo parcels with salad, very rich very scrummy ( I would have liked the salad next to the parcel rather than under it to be honest.) Can only highly recommend and I've already told family members with a view to having a sunday lunch there...oh, and the surrounding area is stunning. Enjoy!

We were staying nearby for the weekend and had asked our host where to go for dinner on the Friday night. She immediately said The Wellington and said that we should book as it got very busy. When we turned up we could see why people would be attracted to the inn - traditional English pub with a `proper' pub part for darts and snooker etc; another bar area with a log fire and newspapers where you could eat or just sit and have a drink; separate dining room and conservatory; interesting menu with dishes not usually found on a pub menu (usual pub food was there, but generally with a twist) and at fair prices (starters £5-7+, mains £10-13+, deserts £5.50, wine from £12.50 a bottle) and friendly, courteous staff. And, when the food came we could see why they might return - our game pies were simply scrumptious! In fact, the food was so good that we immediately booked for the Saturday night and even returned for Sunday lunch!

Room Tip: Didn't see the bedrooms but would think that, based on restaurant and the food, they would provi...

We recently booked a table here for a family lunch.
They accomodated our request to eat in the conservatory, so we could make the most of the beautiful views. Although a little chilly at first, staff had heated the room from early in the morning for us which was much appreciated.
The service was friendly, and the food was excellent, portion sizes were large and more than adequate.
We recommend you try this pub for the food, we couldn't fault it and will definitely be going again.

We had booked a table for Saturday night, food was good but the wait was a joke. After nearly two hours we had had enough and we just about to go home when the main course arrived. Food was good but too late and spoilt the night. Haven,t been back and wouldn't bother, there is a lot of choice out there.

We booked this pub and overnight stay to celebrate our 20year wedding anniversary as it had great reviews regarding the food and was also close to Harrogate so that we could use the Royal Baths. The pub itself was a real gem,it had a real cosy atmosphere with a real log fire.
The food was excellent, great choice and taste.
The only downside was our room,it was very tired looking and dated. The curtains were not hung properly and shabby looking, there was a wall mounted hairdryer that was no longer in use but it hadnt been removed, the shower curtain was mouldy and overall the room a little dusty.
The friendliness and hospitality of the staff along with the food almost certainly made you almost not mind this though and I would definately stay here again,it was just that for celebrating an anniversary of 20yrs I would have liked to stay somewhere that was nicer than home as a treat and not to have had this little disappointing feeling on entering the room.
