Well thought out, really everything you could want in bedrooms. Quilt very heavy and resulted in sleepless night. Public area sitting room, seats uncomfortable. Probably 25% too expensive for what we got

I would be fascinated to know why a large leather sofa, 2 armchairs and an expensive grey velvet 2 seater sofa were uncomfortable! I guess you just can't please everyone...................

Our second time at The Bijou. This time for a weekend conference.
Small friendly and comfortable. We arrived and checked in in a bit of a rush; having to dash to get to the function and leaving the room in a bit of a state; someone tidied us up - which was really nice when we got back (even if the wife was a bit embarrassed ;0)) we spent a chilled afternoon with the papers in the lounge, which was just like home (or at least how home should be!). Thanks Bijou - we'll be back.

Just arrived back from a 2 night stay in The Bijou. A great place to stay, with little luxury touches to our room. Breakfast was very good, with a variety of choices. Recommend the Italian Breakfast as an alternative to the Traditional English Breakfast. A short stroll away from the Conference Centre and Town Centre, approx 5 minutes.

We had a lovely stay on the 17th and 18th April. I felt the photos and literature made my expectations high and I couldn't help but feel a little let down. Little things really and I don't consider myself a picky or negative person. Examples...on arrival in room the window was open and the radiator was turned off so not a warm welcoming start but once we shut the window and turned up the thermostat on the radiator it quickly warmed up. Room was small but I had half expected that. Shower room was warm if v.small but for 5 star would have expected big fluffy bath sheets and not small hand towels. Attention to detail on décor made it sub-5 star and I would say a more realistic 3 to 4 star. The light fittings were scruffy - dated plastic 1970's wall switch, ceiling pendant hanging off and screws broken on bedside lamps. window blinds were v.dusty ( I know they are difficult things to clean) and hair dryer a bit decrepid but when a place is claiming such a high standard then they need to ensure they deliver on the small detail.
To finish on a positive, the breakfasts were fabulous and service excellent - banana bread totally yummy, fruit salad a dream and the cooked options were fab quality, locally sourced and delicious. The beds were clean and comfy, lounge area cozy and free use of laptop v.useful.
Parking was no problem and access to town centre v.handy. price was v reasonable - if it wasn't for the 5 star claim I wouldn't be nit picking!

Room Tip: specify if you want bath/shower or both.

Sincere apologies to this guest for the deficiences in their stay. We will address these issues although I would like to point out that the blinds are cleaned very regularly and the towels in the bathroom are definitely not hand towels, we provide 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels.

Just had two nights here and it suited us perfectly. The comfortable 'coach house' room was bright and spacious we parked right outside our window. Lots of choice at breakfast and freshly cooked. The Hotel is artistically decorated, the owners have a good eye for the unusual modern fittings and decor. Only one gripe, the bathroom mirrors......one fitted so low I could only see my 'man boobs' and the other placed on top of the toilet, either way, not comfortable shaving positions. Would I stay again....definatly.

Arrived for just the one night and stayed in the Coach House which was an older converted building around the back... Friendly owner.... Really nice breakfast... 5 mins walk to Harrogate centre... One small nag though... Bath, no shower and despite having a shower attachment, lifting it above the level of your knee cap, meant the water was freezing cold - this didn't really spoil our break though!

Overall, a good, clean and welcoming stay.

Thanks Bijou

I stayed at the Bijou with my mother on the 26th March as we had tickets for the theatre. Parking was no problem and our room was stylish and immaculate. The stairs were slightly steep for my Mum who is in her 80's, she is determined though and tackled this with humour. You know these old buildings will have this kind of staircase so it was of no consequence really. The walk into town is fine - we just hit on bad weather so chose a taxi... the taxi firm recommended came swiftly to drop us at the theatre and was reasonable priced. The beds in our twin room were really comfortable, we slept well and the room was very warm - which was lovely due to the cold and snow outside. We welcomed the idea of the Honesty bar too. Our gin and tonics were much appreciated! Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice. I will certainly book this hotel again.
