A beautifully presented guest house with all the facilities you would expect from a five star residence. Easy 5 minute stroll to the main town.
Breakfast was beautifully cooked and very artistic, with nice individual touches like homemade muesli, compote and even banana bread. Good service, attentive but not intrusive. Would definitely stay again as it would also make an excellent stop over if you were travelling from the south to Scotland and Harrogate is a charming place.

Just back from a lovely one night stay. If you ever imagined running a B&B and what you would like to see- I would predict this would tick a few boxes on your extra quirky touches list to please guests. We probably had the smallest room, but everything was considered and the price offered very good value for money.
Perfect breakfast with efficient and pleasant sevice all round.

Stayed at the Bijou on Saturday the 23rd for a one night stay in Harrogate we choose this hotel as it was described as a 5 star boutique B & B and the reviews and pictures made it look individual and a bit quirky. Upon arrival around 1ish we were unable to get a parking space all 6 spaces at the front were full and so were the 4 at the rear of the hotel. This was a slight problem as the hotel is on a busy main road with no parking directly outside. I went and asked where we could park and was told in the next road a good 500 yards around the corner. We decided to go for a bit of lunch then return after 2.00pm. We were informed this wasn't usuallly the case and some overnight guests from the previous night must have left there cars after checking out and gone into Harrogate. When we returned around 2.30 the same cars were still parked we had no choice but to park in the next road, luckily my partner has a blue badge and can park on yellow lines otherwise we would of had a problem. On a plus point as soon as a space became available we got a call to come down and move the car and park on the hotel car park.

After checking in we were shown to our room number 6 which was up a very steep staircase, anyone with mobility problems alot of luggage or with a small child may have a problem we were right up on the top floor. The room was a small double but nicely furnished and had a larger than average bathroom approached from a narrow doorway it was well equipped with toiletrees, towels had nice orginal exposed floor boards and a large wardrobe in.

Goods points

Lovely Victorian Villa nicely converted with a mix of funky modern furniture and details loads of orignal features, feels more like someones house than a hotel

Good location only a 5 to 10 minute walk down the hill into Harrogate centre

Nice choice for breakfast not just typical cooked, home made waffles, Italian breakfast etc...

Just a few negative points

I dont really agree with this being a 5 star it was good but I think 4 is more like it due to the following

The main house is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems due to the very steep stairs- **The Coach house behind has a ground floor bedroom which looked lovely**

Room was very warm maybe due to being right at the top of the house

Bottled water in room would of been appreciated

Parking needs to be a few extra spaces

Shower didn't work properly no pressure and thermostate broken off

Slighty larger cooked breakfast only one sausage and one rasher nicely presented... but a little too small

Larger Breakfast room guests coming in and no avaliable tables having to come back 10 minutes later to be seated

Honesty bar was very overpriced a tiny bottle of wine that would be a glass was £5.50!!! even in a bar you wouldn't pay that and you get a it poured for you,

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting something a little more unsual than a standard B & B the negatives were only a few minor things which didn't spoil our stay at all. Hopefully my comments will be acted upon by the owners

Room Tip: Coach house for families or 2 lots of couples travelling together. Dont have a room on top floor ver...

Our only real complaint was we wished we had longer to enjoy the B&B, we arrived late and left early to explore Harrogate before continuing our journey north. We had a small double for pretty much that reason, bathroom was small and the bed low but still comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, I had the Italian cibatta, egg and tomato mmm.

Room Tip: You get what ou pay for with room size:-)

Nice hotel, very clean, good position, nice breakfast, but as in the name Bijou, from the narrow staircase to the smallest bathroom I've ever used !
Would really benefit from triple glazing, to much road noise, disturbed sleep.

This was a surprise trip organised by my boyfriend. I don't know how much he paid therefore I cannot comment on value for money.

On arrival, we were welcomed and advised that our room was in the 'coach house' to the rear. It had snowed over the weekend and the a path across the drive had not been cleared, so we had to walk very carefully back and forth through the snow. This ruined my leather boots being a woman lol.

The room was delightful, quiet and comfortable with an en suite bathroom. The room did get cold in the night. However my boyfriend kept me warm!

Breakfast was served in the main building and the young lady that served us was very polite and helpful. Food was better than average for a b&b.

Overall, we were impressed with the accomodation but felt the use of the term 'boutique' was a bit over the top and we didn't really experience any friendliness other than from the young waitress.

We would not be in a rush to stay again but I would recommend to my friends should they be staying in Harrogate.

We wanted to spend a weekend in Harrogate before Christmas and we were fortunate to stay in the The Bijou. It is ideally situated just five minutes walk from the town centre and even nearer to the Valley Gardens. Rooms are quite a way back from the road which ensures a peaceful night's sleep. There is a relaxed though efficient atmosphere in the hotel and the owners are polite and hospitable. Much attention has been devoted to the planning of the rooms and though ours was a smaller one [the only one left] it was well equipped with a spendid shower and full provision of hot drinks, biscuits, and even sweets. The room was very clean and the decor original and warm. It was very pleasant relaxing in there at tea time before going out in the evening. The lounge is very comfortable with papers available for guests. You can park in the grounds of the hotel and this is ideal considering the parking problems in Harrogate. We were even allowed to leave our car there a couple of hours on the morning of our departure. I might point that the Orchid is an excellent restaurant which is near to this hotel. I would advise early booking for this restaurant at weekends. I would strongly recommend staying at the Bijou, and it represents much better value than most of the bigger hotels in Harrogate.

Room Tip: Book well in advance.
