“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here whilst away with work, nice central location and very reasonable prices. Little dated in places but overall it was a nice clean hotel. Breakfast was very nice & a good choice of food, the pub that's attached is very nice too, good real ales and nice atmosphere

Stayed April 2014, traveled on business

Thank you for your comments. I am pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay at The White Hart Hotel and also that you managed to sample our "Yorkshire "with the food and real ales in the Fat Badger Pub.

The hotel has plenty of parking spaces ( very small spaces - be aware ) and you have to pay £6 per day to park your car, which I find a tad cheeky as I was staying at the hotel. That aside the hotel is beautiful. No problem with check in. Room lovely, though very warm and the heating wasn't on, unable to keep window open all night due to traffic outside. The over the bath shower has a shower screen which would benefit from some attention as the water just flows through the bottom of the screen onto the bathroom floor! We had afternoon tea and my goodness it was Fantastic...couldn't eat it all!! We also had a 3 course meal in the evening and this was very tasty and plentiful. The waiting staff were very polite and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble ( especially the lady who waited at our table I didn't get her name but if the management of the hotel read this, she worked Friday 4th April, serving afternoon teas and the evening meals and has possibly a Polish accent?? and would like her to be given a pat on the back). The hotel has a hair salon on site, though I didn't visit but handy to know for when I stay next time. All in all a fantastic stay and I will recommend The White Hart to all my friends.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 214 a twin room

We went for afternoon tea at The White Hart Hotel. It was a Monday at about 2pm but we were the only ones in the restaurant which was a shame as it is a lovely room but just lacked a bit of atmosphere. We had a lovely large round table for the 6 of us. We all had a 3 tiered cake stand each. Nice bread - 3 sandwiches. 5 excellent tasting cakes. Loads of clotted cream and jam for the scone. Lots of additional hot water for the teas. Would recommend if you can't get into Betty's.

I stayed in room 204 with my Wife as it was her 50th birthday treat.
There are some good points and some bad points as follows.

The GOOD points

Great Breakfast with plenty of choice and only quality ingredients were used.
Friendly staff both on reception and in the dining room.
Our room was clean.
The pub is great (The Fat Badger) with a good atmosphere.
The exterior of the hotel is very nice.
The hotel is in a great location.

The BAD points

Our room was small (reduced by using some of the original bedroom to create the en suite).
The décor in the room was dark (dark mushroom coloured paint used).
No net curtains to maintain privacy (had to close the curtains).
The furniture was of sub standard quality.
The furniture was in poor condition (numerous paint chips etc).
The painter even managed to get the paint on the wall that was meant for the door frame.
The car park is badly designed (spaces far too narrow, the designer should understand that people need to be able to get out of their car after they have parked).
There is a £6 charge for overnight parking (should be complimentary when staying at the hotel).
The curtain in our room was partly hanging off of the curtain rail.
The bathroom was freezing at all times.
The hotel is old and the floors creak badly (not too bad for me, but don't stay if you are a light sleeper).
The Fat Badger pub is expensive.

So to sum up

We had an OK time, but will not stay again.
The hotel management let themselves down by not keeping the rooms up to standard.
There needs to be a car park warden on duty to assist people to park.

This hotel is advertised as a 4 star, it is actually somewhere between a 2 star and a 3 star.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room as sometimes there are loud wedding parties and get together parties taking pla...

The inn is in a good central location overlooking the Stray which is lovely stretch of parkland. Parking in the hotel car park is tricky as it's on a raised area behind the hotel and the access lane is difficult to find. Entering the car park a ticket is issued at the barrier and this has to be scanned by the receptionist before you can exit. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, but as we did not use the bar or the restaurant cannot comment on the staff there. Our room was a dual aspect room and we had views of the Stray, and it had been recently re-furbished and was attractive. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen was of good quality.Unfortunately, the hairdryer could not be used while looking in the mirror, due to the position of the powerpoints. The bathroom was functional, but could have done with a make over. Our room was comfortable, but with a little attention could have been improved .

We stayed at The White Hart for 3 nights and despite asking 3 times for the radiator in our room to be turned off, it was never done, so we were either boiling hot as the radiator was on full, or freezing cold as we had to open the window to cool down. The hotel has recently been refurbished, but clearly the painters needed more training as my 5 year old son could have done a better job on the woodwork! The property itself could be beautiful- the ceilings are high, and the rooms a reasonable size, but it is too 'fussy' with lots of 'nick nacks' around, straw hearts, noticeboards with trite messages on them, etc. The brasserie served food that was passable, and the staff in there were affable. Room and bedding and towels were clean, but the shower leaked all over the floor as the shower screen was not a good fit.
Good, central position for the town though- everything within an easy walking distance.

I recently stayed at the White Heart whilst on business. The hotel is well equipped and has a lovely bar joined to it called the Fat Badger. The rooms are well presented and very comfortable and excellent for the price. The only qualm I had was that the shower was cold, this may have been due to the fact I was on the 3rd floor, but even so it did let the hotel down which otherwise would be prefect. The location is ideal if you are visiting Harrogate and it is very central with safe secure parking included. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Harrogate or the surrounding areas.
