“Relaxing and beautiful building”

We were only in Harrogate for four nights but went to the Turkish Baths twice. Totally relaxing way to spend a few hours in a Victorian Turkish Baths which if they have been restored they are in the same state as the day they opened. Struck me as reasonably priced as well. Good website with all the information you need. I would also recommend nipping into the Wetherspoons next door which is part of the same Victorian Royal Bath complex.

“Alternative evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

After a day or two in a modern conference centre the "period" changing area and appearance of the baths was a very pleasant contrast. I greatly enjoyed the pools and various rooms - probably helped by there being a number of small groups and couples rather than a big group.

“Total relaxation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

We decided to try the turkish baths in Harrogate having heard from others how relaxing it was. We booked the day before for a mixed session which we found to be mostly couples of all ages and not at all intimiidating. The place itself is a beautiful piece of history and the photos of old therapies were intriguing. The staff are welcoming and knowledgable and your are shown around and told the history and what to do before being left to enjoy the peace and relaxation. Where else can you do nothing for 3 hours in total luxury.

“Historic relaxation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

The Turkish Baths are amazing, a beautifully restored piece of Victoriana. In the reception area you can see photos of the baths as they would have been used years ago, where it was more of a health spa set up. We went to a ladies-only session on a Sunday afternoon. Basically, you shower, go into a very hot steam room, then take a plunge pool (not for the faint hearted!) then work your way round a succession of hot rooms, with regular plunges to cool down (still not for the faint hearted!). It was a lovely, relaxing experience, but the history of the place made it much more special than, for example, visiting a hotel spa.

Highly recommended. Take a magazine or book though, their reading material was a bit rubbish. Not suitable for young children.

“Amazing experience! Would definatly go again.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

My partner and I stayed for 2 days in Harrogate and decided to spend one morning at the Turkish baths. We visited the evening before to see how much it would cost and found out that the next morning had an off peak session for about £15. When we arrived the next morning we were asked if we had booked, which I think we should have been told we could do on the previous evening. Luckily we were early and there were a few spare places.

Neither of us had done anything like this before and we both found it extremly relaxing and enjoyable. You get taken to the cubicals to change and can store you stuff in lockers, £1 refundable. There are then a number of rooms you can go through, I cannot remember the names however there was the relaxing cool room with beds, the eucalyptus steam room, one large sauna seperated into 3 with curtains, each section getting hotter and then there was a mix of hot and cold showers as well as the icy cold plunge pool!

We had a lovley man show us round and explain how everything worked and what it did for the body and was then left to it. There were plenty of staff tobe seen around if u needed anything.

The decor was lovley and had not been changed from its original state.

We did not book any treatments as we are a young couple on a bargain break and we found them to be quite pricey, about £50 for a head massage.

If i were to go again i would take a magasine or book as i could have spent a good extra hour or so relaxing.
