Stopped for lunch and a look round the heritage centre on a warm and sunny June day. The church is beautifully cared for, and there is lots of well-presented information about the church, and the history of the Washburn Valley. Had a delicious salad with locally-made pork pie. Warm and friendly service from the volunteers. Really worth making a detour for, or dropping in if you're walking in the area.

There is an excellent cafe run by volunteers as well as interesting information and exhibits. They organise interesting event like the bat walk we did earlier this year.

Walking around Swinsty decided to look a the church nestled next door was the centre greeted like an old friend. Amazing cakes and reall interesting information on the church and valley. I would walk round that area just to get at the tea and cakes. Cannot recommend any finer.

This place is a mine of local information on the stunning Washburn Valley near Harrogate. It is attached to the glorious 17th C grade 2 listed church & hosts a varied programme of exhibitions ( all free) as well as providing yummy home made cakes, soup and other delights. Extremely friendly welcome from the wardens & lots of free info. The place is on the edge of a large reservoir ( Swinsty) with good walks around it. Heaps of bird life & good car parking nearby. Open Sunday in winter and weekends in summer plus other days for special ( bookable) events. A real find & must visit if staying in Harrogate or the Yorkshire Dales
