for once i have no photos to post with my review... not because i dont have any, but as you can see from other photos, its beautiful!!!

came here on tuesday 2nd april 2013

me and my husband wanted to go somewhere, not too far away from home, cheap and outdoors

i had no idea where i was going as my husband suprised me...left home where it was dry but cold
and approaching past knaresborough there was snow EVERYWHERE!!!

car parking cost £3 for 3 hours or £4 for longer, (free for national trust members)

my, what a beautiful place!! the snow had barely melted, so there was mud everywhere, it was slippy as well, and at somepoints it felt like i was in a world of my own (in fact yeah, i'll share some photos)
it really did feel like a winter wonderland

make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothings

the stones itself was a mystery to me... are they naturally like that? or has someone put them there? i think i'll ask google

as we was cold, and my trainers wasn't exactly suitable for the conditions... we decided to *quickly* walk round...this still took us 2 hours!!

would def come back, i do highly recommend, especially if you want a cheap day out in the holidays with kids

my only comment is... carry a bottle of water with you...specially if the weather is hot

we never went to the cafe...but spotted alot of people taking picnics

p.s NOT suitable for the disabled

there's nowhere quite like Brimham Rocks. went there this weekend with my 2 yr old who loved climbing on the rocks and said he could see the whole world from the tops of some of them. great scenery, still quite wild and magical.

Good walk. Lovely scenery. Kids will love climbing the rocks. Parking and food (limited selection) pricey. Best to take own picnic. Watch out for wasps in the Summer around all bins. Great for dogs too!

Plenty of open space for everyone to explore the rocks and climb on them. We completed a circular walk that encompassed the rocks and down to Smelthouses which covered woodland, moors and riverside.
Excellent help with the route from staff on site.

If you happen to be in Yorkshire and you want to get out of the cities into the wilds of the Dales a magical place to visit is Brimham Rocks, set to the north of Harrogate, the gateway to the Dales themselves.

The Rocks are amazing formations that look as though some gigantic hand has set them down in the middle of the rather stark moorland landscape, and they all have strange shapes, some of which have been given names such as "The Anvil" or "The Eagle" but you might like to give your own names to others.

This is the perfect place to gather your thoughts, go for a walk, scramble over the rocks themselves or simply sit and admire the stunning views of Yorkshire that you can see here. On a clear day even the spire of York Minster is visible.

Brimham Rocks is a National Trust site and this means that the place is well maintained but not over commercialized.

If you want to go back to the town it is a stone's throw away from Harrogate, Ripon or Pately Bridge and other nearby places that are well worth a visit are Fountain's Abbey and Ripley Castle, which also has an excellent pub.
