“Nice break, nice food but wafer thin walls.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2011

Just had a two night break with my hubby at the Cedar Court which included breakfast both mornings and dinner on the first night. The room (324) was quite spacious with views out of the front of the hotel. We had bath robes, spring water and bowl of fruit which was a nice touch.

The restaurant is quite small but the food was very nice even if its expensive. On the DB&B option you are allowed £24.50 each and there are additional supplements on some dishes. The house rose was very reasonable at £13.95. Staff are very polite and helpful. Breakfast on both mornings was very good - a "help yourself" buffet with nice hot plates.

We shopped all day the following day in Harrogate which, as usual, was lovely and very Christmasy as it was snowing. In fact we got caught in a blizzard walking to the Restaurant on the second night (Chez la Vie, Station Parade - please read my review as it was superb!!!!!)..

The only real complaint is that the dividing wall between us and the next room is so thin you can hear eeverything and when you have someone snoring at around 900 decibels each night it's a bit of a nightmare. I think some soundproofing of sorts ought to be considered as it spoiled our second night in the fact that neither myself or my husband could sleep because of the racket. In fact, I don't think we'd return on that basis which is a shame as everything else was very nice. I did mention it to the receptionist when we checked out but she just said "oh".

Room Tip: Ask for one that does not have a stud dividing wall!!!

Comfortable hotel located off the central parkland in Harrogate. Rooms very comfortable and excellent breakfast. Reception staff very helpful and informative. Some of the public areas were a little cold and looked a bit "tired".

Just returned from a 4 night B&B stay here mon-fri and had a lovely time. The room was large and comfortable (310 on the second floor, overlooking the rear car park) and was very clean with a good strong shower in the bathroom. We did not have any problems with noise from other rooms, it was very quiet. All the staff we spoke to were warm and friendly and there was a nice atmosphere about the place. We had booked for breakfast which had plenty of the usual options available, and very good attentive staff. We also had hot and cold sandwiches from the bar menu on 2 occasions which were excellent (loved the chunky chips). The rest of the time we ate out, would recommend the local Thai restaurant Sukhothai which we chose as it was the busiest one in the street, and did not disappoint. As well as Harrogate centre which is only 10 minutes walk away, we drove to Howarth (1hr drive) and the Bronte country, visited Pately Bridge, Darley Mill, Brimham rocks locally, and also went to Castle Howard (1hr drive) which was beautiful. The hotel was ideally placed to get in and out of Harrogate easily, and when we walked around town and saw the other ones that had been on my possible list, I think we definitely made the right choice.

Stayed here with my wife on a 2 night special offer break. The deal included the price of dinner on the first night but we asked if we could take dinner on the second night of our stay instead, which was no problem. The 3 course dinner was excellent and the service was efficient, pleasant and attentive.
Breakfast was the usual buffet style with the hot food stored in heated lidded containers which I find somewhat detracts from the freshness and tends to make the food a little soggy, however this arrangement is very much the norm in a large hotel and is not a big issue. There was plenty of fresh fruit and pastries available and eggs cooked to order.
The public areas are pleasant and the bar prices are reasonable. The exterior of the hotel, especially the front elevation, is most impressive.
We were allocated a bay windowed room on the first floor which was comfortable, nice and clean and very well appointed but only just a little tired looking.
Without exception the staff are pleasant and helpfull. Would definately stay here again.
Taxi cost £5.00 into the centre of town but only 15 minutes walk.

This has got to be the best hotel i have stayed in for a long time! I have used other hotels in the town, paying much more for them but none can compare to this one. Service was great, breakfast superb and the ambience unbeatable. Bar prices a bit high but isn't that the same for most hotels? Highly recommended and i would definately use it again.

Great hotel as was up for an army college reunion and meeting a lot of people that I hadn't seen in over 30 years.
Really nice, cleant and smart hotel. Great, efficient and friendly staff.
Rooms were nice and clean.
Bar and dining really good. Cannot fault the food and service.
Breakfasts particularly good.
The roome where the Saturday night function held was lovely. Food, again, was excellent.
Only thing to moan about was lack of free internet.
All-in-all a pleasant experience.
Can't be bad as Jools Holland was at the hotel when we were there.

Room Tip: Have only stayed here once so can't really say. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we had it quie...

I found the staff very helpful and quite plentiful - especially at breakfast. The breakfast room is grand and impressive, but the food only slightly better than say a Premier Inn. The hotel had paid attention to my note & arranged two rooms next to each other on the ground floor for myself and my elderly mother. The rooms were just beginning to lose their sheen & become a bit worn, but were comfortable. It's an easy 5 minute walk into central Harrogate & opens on to "The Stray" - a wide open space around the north of the centre.
