“Good Value KGB Deal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Just stayed on a deal - £59 for bed and breakfast and bottle of wine in the room. Well worth the money and would definitely stay again. Nice hotel, stayed in a deluxe room which was gorgeous, well decorated and spacious. Bathroom was lovely and modern too and really big. Didn't expect that kind of quality for the price.

We booked in Signature's for a meal. Really nice, quality food, but my only criticism is I would have preferred a little bit more. Wasn't feeling full after three courses. Maybe that's just me. Breakfast was amazing. Loads of choice and really tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Hotel only 5 minutes (if that) walk to Town Centre. Loads to do but unfortunately due to the snow we didn't venture any further than the Town Centre so will need to return and explore.

Only two small criticisms of our stay a) charging £6 for parking in a car park they own (ok not everyone drives so it would be unfair to add the cost onto the room charges for everyone) b) we were asked in advance if we wanted red or white wine. Ordered white but they left red. When we phoned reception to book a table to eat we told them about the wine and asked if it could be changed. We were told we would have to go to the bar in the basement to change it ourselves. Not very good customer care I thought.

Two bottles of water left in the room, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, which were replenished if asked. So that was a really nice touch.

All in all very enjoyable and will definitely be staying again.

We paid £50 per night for the 'standard' rooms (without breakfast), which is actually one notch above the 'budget' option. Factor in £6 per night for parking.

The hotel is set up with a mid-range business pitch. Well decorated, with a warm style. Bed comfy, bathroom good. Room well equipped and ok sized. Room clean. Similar to premier inn, in that it does the basics well, but with a few extra touches and not as chainy. Check in and out were efficient.

Only niggle- a smoke alarm in room which flashes every 30 seconds- why put something that stupid in rooms?

At this price we were very happy, but some caveats:
- We didn't see the budget rooms, but did note that they are not the same as standard for little price difference.
- The hotel is not what I'd consider a 4*, as it advertises, but its a good 3*.
- Some guests paid silly prices, this is not a luxury hotel.

We stayed recently at this hotel for two nights and were very happy with our stay. Room was very clean and comfortable and provided little extra touches which aren't always thought of. One bone of contention was having to pay £6 per day for parking our car and being told that our space could not be reserved if we went out in our car and returned later. We were visiting family so had to risk going out and not being able to park on our return. The breakfast buffet was very plentiful and delicious so that kind of made up for the parking issue. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would be happy to stay there again.

Stopped at the Kimberly 23-24th Dec, asked for a room in the annex and it was fantastic, one largest room i've even had the pleasure to stay in. Bottled water, tea, coffee and mints replenished each day along with towels etc. The food was first class especially the breakfast, with full trays of food including black pudding. Great location just a short walk down into the town, all staff were very pleasent and helpful and I would recommend this hotel to everyone, especially the breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the annex

The room was fine very clean and functional as was the bathroom, bed very comfortable indeed.
What didn't work for me was the officious notices left everywhere, very off putting, also the car park fee £6.00 very mean considering the they own the car park...breakfast...they seemed unjustly proud of the Yorkshire Dale sausage which tasted like a leaden cardboard torpedo, and the dales bacon which was obviously from a huge pack that was stuck together so you couldn't lift one piece without lifting the whole tray, it was also swimming with grease...so great for a nights sleep and if you get it on a offer, otherwise not very good VFM...

I use the Kimberley every year and have done for the last 6 years. This hotel has gone from strength to strength. After working at a trade show for 9 hours it is nice to relax in a friendly comfortable hotel.

Room Tip: The executive rooms are superb.
