“Great offer from KGB”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

Myself and husband went here on a KGB special offer two night b&b with evening meal on first night, first of all the hotel was lovely bigger than what it looks, the room was beautiful large and well decorated, our evening meal was lovely in the signature restaurant, and breakfast in the morning was a lovely full Yorkshire breakfast. All in all a great hotel and with the KGB offer a bargin.

Room Tip: Get the delux rooms as they are large and so well decorated

The hotel proudly displays the 4-star Trip Advisor rating and features nice rooms, free wifi and an excellent restaurant. I was a bit disappointed first with the inconsistent maid service. Friday morning I returned to my room with a fresh room. I departed around 0930 on Saturday and Sunday and went so far as to place the 'room ready for service' sign on the door only to return to the room with the 'do not disturb' sign facing. To make matters worse, on Monday, I wanted new towels as these were a few days old. I returned to a fresh room with the old wet towels I left on the floor as the sign suggests, neatly folded and hanging on the racks...still wet from the morning shower. As for the restaurant, service was inconsistent between crews. Food was great. Not sure why the owners want to disassociate the restaurant finances from the hotel, but not being able to charge food to the room seemed odd.

Just returned back from a two night stay bed and breakfast, we had a great stay, food was great and all the staff were lovely too what else do you need! We were really pleased with our room, the bathroom was beautiful and the shower was fantastic. We arrived early and although we new are room wouldn't be ready we decided to park at the hotel and walk in town, the lady on reception was lovely and give us a map of the local area. We didn't mind paying the £6.00 per day charge for parking as are car didn't move the 2 days and we knew it would be save in the car park.

We had room service on the 1st night which was nice but not a lot of choice and we dined in the bistro on the 2nd night that was lovely too. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. We are arranging are next trip now.

We highly recommend the Turkish baths in town they are defiantly a must.

We stayed here with our daughter , we were in room 3207, which is in a seperate building at the rear of the hotel, it was a lovely clean big room with sofa table and tea making facilities . View was fine , not the car park like many guests would of had , we got the trees :) fine stay the only thing we would mark down on is the service in the bistro they have in the hotel,, basically no body wanted us to pay so we didn't. ! Would stay here again though. Harrogate is beautiful :)

We were attracted by the professional website and the compelling offer for two nights at just over 100 pounds. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is conveninetly located. The bedroom was nice. We did have one or two disapppointments, one of which, while minor, was quite irritating. The website advertises free wireless internet. On arrival, I was given the sign-on information. I tried all three of the networks on two separate computers. We could access the networks, but only received local connectivity (worthless), and not internet access. Numerous queries to the front desk were fruitless. We were told the engineer found nothing wrong. We were told they'd get back to us with a status update (they did not get back to us). We were told that staff could access the internet. I know it wasn't just our room or our computers, as other guests had complained. Staff didn't seem to be concerned about fixing the problem, but they were polite about not fixing the problem.
The bathroom needs to be renovated; looks like it is stuck in the 70s. The mattresses were quite stiff and uncomfortable. We did not try any food in the restaurant, as they were charging 12.95 for an English breakfast; I could get it at half that price anywhere else. Overall, if you don't mind a 1970s bathroom, don't need the internet, and like stiff beds at an affordable rate, this hotel is for you.

We stayed for two nights as part of a deal, £89 B&B plus a bottle of wine (which wasn't bad!). Room was nice and extremely comfortable, top floor at the rear of the hotel, quiet and with a nice view.
Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The hotel is ideally placed and within walking distance of the town (about 10 minutes)
Like most other reviewers though, I do object to the £6 per night parking, the parking around the area is very restricted and it feels that the hotel is cashing in on that fact.

Room Tip: We had room 2304 on the top floor at the rear of the hotel, very quiet with a nice view, would reque...
