A fantastic bed and breakfast within easy location to shops, pubs and restaurants. Sue and Neil are fabulous hosts and are very friendly and very knowledgable about the local area. Would recommend it highly and can't wait to go again.

A return visits says it all!. We are pleased when our guests make full use of the guest lounge, the open fire, and a complementary drink. Relaxing with friends after a meal and drinks in a quality restaurant finishes off a perfect night out.

We know you have fallen in love with Harrogate and all it has to offer, so see you all soon!! :)) x

Stayed here with my boyfriend whilst visiting his daughter in February. The location was perfect, 5 minute walk from the train station and the centre of town. The room was lovely, very boutique as other guests have mentioned, lovely furnishings, beautiful lounge and dining area and some lovely touches like the drinks in the lounge for guests, the basket full of toiletries and the local produce used for breakfast. Sue was lovely and always greeted us with a smile even when she was rushed off her feet. Sue even bought soya milk for breakfast on our second morning so I could have a cup of tea.

The bed was very comfortable, I was worried about noise from the main road but I wasn’t disturbed at all and slept really well. We booked the slipper bath, unfortunately we never got to use it as we just didn’t have the time. Water took a long time to get warm, the shower was a tight squeeze but we would definitely stay her on our next visit to Harrogate.

Room Tip: Room 3 for the sliper bath.

We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. We are a town house and there is activity outside, all our windows are double glazed so the noise is kept to a minimum, thank you for pointing that out. Our water tanks are in the attic and the hot water can sometimes take a little time to come down to the first floor. We are glad that you wish to return in future and hope you have time to take a bath with our complementary selection of bubble bath and bath bomb.

Kindest regards

Sue

Second time we have stayed here and we can't wait to go back for our 3rd visit!

Sue went above and beyond as usual - even running out to the shop on a busy breakfast shift to get baked beans for hungry guests! Always so thoughtful to her guests and even cooking Eggs Benedict which is not a regular option on the menu!

Our friends stayed with me and my wife this time as we have raved about the famous Doreen's black pudding & impeccable Yorkshire breakfasts. They agreed that staying here is like "Being at home but with better breakfasts!"

Every detail of Shelbourne House is showered with warmth and attention. All rooms have great modern flat Samsung TVs and even a stylish toiletries box with good quality shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. Even an iPod alarm clock (minus iPod obviously!!) for our convenience.

Wifi and everything else you need is here. Ample street parking with parking discs and Sue kindly let us stay longer whilst we enjoyed Sunday buffet at the Orchid!!

Not sure if other reviews have mentioned the fantastic boutique lounge Neil and Sue have lovingly renovated. With a warm coal fire and free sherry, Baileys and port to enjoy before hitting the local bars & restaurants!

It's just pure madness that they are not 'No. 1' on Tripadvisor but perhaps Tripadvisor should have separate listings for country farms, hotels & B'n'Bs??

Thanks again Sue look forward to seeing you soon!

Great friendly service from the time of our booking to our checkout.
Very high standard of accomodation and great location for access to town centre - but not too close! Parking permits also provided to allow easy access and remove the hassle and cost of parking.
Breakfasts were superb - among the best ever. Black pudding is really tasty and the fruit is also great for those prefering a healty option.
One minor negative (for some) may be the lack of a bath in the en-suite for the room we had - not all rooms though.
Highly recommended for a stay in the Harrogate area.
Can also recommend the Sukhothai restaurant but not the Romana Italian nearby.

We have recently returned from a 1 night stay at Shelbourne House and have nothing but great things to say about this beautiful B & B. Sue was a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble. This is far more Boutique than B & B!

Our room (no 3) was spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable and even had a feather duvet and pillows. The en-suite was immaculate with a beautiful slipper bath and separate shower too. It had lovely large bath and hand towels. Sue had even popped a basket in the room with everything you could possibly need from body creams, shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths to bath bombs etc. Even cotton wool pads and tissues had been placed in little trinket boxes for your convenience. The toilet roll was good quality which is always a bonus! Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble.

Sue was very helpful in recommending places to eat and one place in particular was the Orchid Restaurant which was fabulous.

Overall we had a wonderful stay here and wouldn't hesitate in going back or recommending this hotel to anyone.

Everything was really great quality, from making the booking, checking in, free car-parking and wi-fi access, good quality furnishings and fittings, and excellent quality breakfast cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients - and it is very well situated for either work or leisure - the Conference Centre is 5 minutes walk away - I would much rather stay here on business should the need arise in future, than in a 'business' hotel - you have everything you need here. Shops and restaurants are a few minutes walk and its about 10 minutes walk to the Turkish baths which were well worth a visit (remember to book in advance: http://www.turkishbathsharrogate.co.uk/Documents/TurkishBaths_Brochure_2012.pdf
The railway station is about 15 minutes walk. Sue is very helpful and all the arrangements were made clear to us from the outset. We would like to stay again if we are in the area. For those who might be attending the hockey tournament planned for May 2013, the Hockey ground is about 7 minutes drive away so again could strongly recommend.

Room Tip: Room 3 with slipper bath was lovely - very good quality decor and furnishings.

We stayed in Shelbourne whilst attending a conference in Harrogate. We arrived very early for check in but our room was ready which was great. We stayed in the room with the slipper bath. The room was decorated really nicely and the slipper bath was lush! The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Sue was very friendly but not over bearing. The breakfast on both mornings was fresh and tasty. The guest house was very convenient to the conference centre and the town. Harrogate itself is worth a visit and I would recommend the Shelbourne to stay in.
